Just bought my first pair of PF Flyers so I expect to run faster and jump higher in the near future.
Call the NBA scouts!
I wanted some low cut Chuck’s for casual wear but I’m done with Nike and they own Converse.
New Balance makes the PF Flyers and they actually claim they’re an upgrade from Chuck’s.
Too bad, Nike Metcons are really stable, comfy and don’t look half bad
Vans are pretty much the same as Converse.
Yeah. Sucked because the Nike MetCons were my favorite shoes - I even had a UNC pair!
UnderArmour shoes have improved a ton, and their website offers a really hefty military and first responders discount.
I actually have a pair. I won’t buy another but I’m not throwing them out. I think I bought them off ebay so I didn’t technically give them my money…and it was before things got all political.
I’m going to have to check that out. I’ve been buying Under Armour from Dick’s. It’s also carried by the company from whom we buy our police gear and uniforms. I bought socks and a few graphic tees with my uniform allowance this year.
That’s a pretty good deal. I got their tribase reign shoe and like it
You need a heavier tire, 280# is too light for you! Of course, that might make the standing long jumps across the tire a bit of a challenge…
It’s perfect. The goal is conditioning. If I can only flip it a few times then that defeats the purpose.

I played golf for the first time in at least a year yesterday. It was a blast but my body is hurting today. I kind of buried myself with the extra work on Saturday.
I ate like an idiot both days to compensate and I’m right back where I started last week. I weighed 234 this morning. I’m bloated and full of salt but that’s still disappointing.
Finally! Someone using a rational and effective way to send a message to corporations
I kept meaning to reply to this, but ever consider belt squats? Could use a belt squat belt and a loading pin or a landmine.
And if you needed to elevate your feet so the weights didn’t hit the ground you could just stand on top of your new tire.
Is there a back story here my unaware self doesn’t know about?
Reality is that the manufacturer of a product receives its money one time. I don’t think Ford gets any money if I buy a used Ford that’s 10+ years old. I think the same applies to items sold on eBay or other person to person methods. You have to remember that you advertise that company every time you wear or use one of their products. We all “vote” with every dollar we spend.
The short version is that I don’t like their company and don’t want to support them or advertise them in any way.
The longer version is that they endorse Collin Kaepernick. He makes millions from them. They made him the face of their campaign after he started kneeling during the National Anthem. They put his stupid face on a sign that said “Believe in something even if it costs you everything.” They were implying that his stance against police brutality cost him his NFL job. He lost his starting spot prior to that nonsense. He’s also making millions from them so I’d say he profited off of his beliefs.
The kicker of it all is that Kap donated to the cause of a convicted cop killer. If Nike wants to back him then so be it. I don’t have to buy their products. I’m not asking them to change their brand or side with my beliefs; I just won’t buy their stuff.
I think that’s how adults are supposed to behave. If you don’t like something then don’t support it. You don’t have to go on a campaign to tear down that something and force them to change. Unfortunately, people seem to think the entire world has to agree with them.
No, and I’ve never had the pleasure of using one. I could rig something up, though. I do squats because I feel like they’re “necessary” for full body strength. There’s just something about loading up the body like that. I could hammer my legs with single leg work, but it sucks royally.
I’m 100% on board with your way of thinking here.
I was thinking the same thing. His legs are long enough to span his tire. I am short enough to get away with cinder blocks.
I always like rubber patio pavers, because you can use them as pulling blocks and for box squats.
I keep looking for some on sale, some of them are pretty pricey. I have been considering cutting up a stall mat.
