Well, crap. The gym has closed. This is more of an official “$#!* just got real” than an inconvenience. I have everything I need at home plus a work gym that is basically a small commercial gym. I’ll be fine.
Pretty sure bows don’t. The only bows illegal here are crossbows (although they may just require a permit like a firearm) made after 1900.
Yes! Always better for eating.
Haha, Is your dad Paul Washer? Sounds like a great dad!
Frustrating bow hunting fact, it’s illegal in the UK - guns only.
Pun intended?
Actually, no.
I can understand you jumping to conclusionsn when I mentioned kangaroos, though.
I swear to crap, between this log and @flappinit ‘s food porn log, I am THIS CLOSE to just going on a massive meat eating spree.
Zombie virus finally got ya?
No problem then if you opt for “Ye Olde Crossbow”.
Don’t make me come over there and eat your brains, dude.
Does Quarantine mean nothing to you?
Yes. It means I know exactly where are you people are, so that I know where to go when my freezer runs out of brains.
You eat your brains cold? Like a popsicle?
Ever heard of brain freeze?

Well, my city lost its mind today. They’re doing all kinds of crazy things that make no sense including making my unit turn in our take home cars for patrol to use. The confusing part is that patrol doesn’t have enough people to use all their cars so it doesn’t make any sense to take ours. It’s also going to increase our chance of getting sick because now we’ll be sharing cars. Hopefully they wise up before Friday which is his deadline to turn in the cars.
It’s also looking like we’ll be reassigned back to patrol at some point. They’re going to start taking our temperature at the start of our shift, too.
There’s more craziness, but that’s the start. The craziest part is that there are no cases of the virus in our county. You’d think zombies were roaming the streets with this stuff. They even closed the academy and they’re sending the recruits to the stations to clean and take reports (which they haven’t been trained to do yet).
On a different note, our PT test is a joke. I had to do 25 pushups and 36 sit ups in a minute for max points. Doing that gave me enough points to pass the whole thing without doing the agility run or beep test. A handful of us stayed and tried those. I had the fastest agility time and bailed on the beep test at level 7.1. I did some checking and that’s a 52 on the pacer and puts me in the “fair” category for results lol
Well that’s fucked
Well it may sound crazy some of the shit they are doing. But perhaps your administration is en perfect timing, waiting for it to arrive makes it too late.
The car thing is just silly though.
There’s 2 parts to this:
- Doing the right thing
- Looking like you’re doing the right thing.
Plenty of measures being taken to make it clear people are taking this seriously rather than because it’s actually a smart or responsible thing to do at this point
Whether they’re consciously aware of it or not, I think there’s some aspect of “legacy opportunity” in the political response. This is their 9/11, and they will be remembered as heroes who did everything they could! You can see it in language like “this is not a drill; this is a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.”
Which is true, to be fair. I just think the risk of being seen to do nothing is too great for both the public and private sector
