Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

Nope. My double might have been a really slow triple. I’m working up to a heavy single at 285. Until yesterday, a single was all I had in me. I finally felt good enough to do it twice.

This is not taxing at all in terms of fatigue. I feel like it’s similar to the Daily Dose in that I can do the bare minimum on days that I feel weaker.

My TM is probably high, but I like that weight. I think I’m supposed to be using 85% of my “any day of the week gym max”. I thought that would be 300 when I started this but that would put my TM at 255. I guess you could say I’ve been doing Jokers at 285 every session. :man_shrugging:

We did wager something on this, didn’t we? Because I think I’m close.

PUSH UPS
25, 10

INCLINE
145 x 10, 10, 10 , 8+2

DB BENCH
60 x 10 x 4 sets
This was confusing. I struggled to do sets of 8 on Wednesday. The only thing I can think of is that I did some PT stuff before lifting Wednesday.

MACHINE FLY
150 x 15, 12, 10

REAR DELT DB FLY
40 x 15
40 x 12
40 x 10 + 25 x 15

SMITH OHP
105 x 15, 11, 8, 7

CABLE LAT RAISE
30 x 10 + 20 x 15 + 10 x 15
20 x 15 + 10 x 15

SA REV PRESS DOWN
60 x 12
60 x 8 + 50 x 6 + 40 x 7 + 30 x 10 + 20 x 10

Great workout. Took me an hour on the dot for the lifting. I’m wondering if I’ve added too much to this day.

CONDITIONING
Run the straightaway, walk the curve x 12 (6 laps/1 mile). Time: 10:25 and I was huffin and puffin.

Thought I’d share a visual aid to show how I darn near fill up the Smith rack.

3.15.20 SGSS W3 D6

Last day of Phase One. I get to move on to sets of five for lower body and sets of eight for upper body.

ELLIPTICAL
10 min warm up

PULL UPS
8, 8, 5, 5, 5

UNDERHAND B.O. ROW
170 x 10 x 4 sets

DB MEADOWS ROW
70 x 10 x 4 sets

DB PULL OVER
70 x 10 x 4 sets

STRAIGHT BAR CURL
80 x 10 x 4 sets

Trained at home so no cable stuff. I recorded some sets but they’re nothing special. I was hoping to look all cool and pumped up but it was quite the opposite. My shoulder doesn’t hurt but I still elevate on the right side on almost everything. It’s quite annoying but I was that way before surgery. It’s really noticeable on curls. I finally found a solution on set four - shrug both shoulders on purpose and it looks symmetrical. :man_shrugging:

I signed up for our new fitness test so that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow at 4pm. I think it’s push ups, sit ups, some agility course and a beep test. Hope I pass!

Meal Prep

This would feed Flap for about three days. Hopefully it can hold me over for the week since I also have six chicken breasts in the slow cooker. Below you’ll see patties that are 0.4-0.5 lbs each. They’re 80% deer meat and 20% pork. The other plate is back strap. For those of you who don’t eat Bambi, that’s the best cut of deer meat. Thanks to my pops for hooking me up!

Those back straps look GOOD.

Appreciate the solidarity bro!

Lotta blood in this meat. Part of me says that’s bad. It should’ve been hung up sooner. The other part of me is enjoying the juiciness of this meat.

Eat backstraps year round here! Surprised more guys that pound the weights don’t also pound the deer!!

Ain’t many countries where that type of thing is still okay, bud.

What good is meat if you can’t soak your mashed potatoes with the blood when you cut into it?

Luckily we’re in one of them lmao

I think a trip to the local meat processor (aka butcher) is a foreign concept these days. My dad has a buddy who rifle hunts and only shoots a buck with a decent rack every year. We get the meat.

I’ve never purchased deer meat but I bet i could get it from the place that provides my chicken.

Yep that’s true but I think your from the Midwest like me and being a cop you can shoot and probably find a place to go shoot a couple doe and that would be better meat than the big buck. Just a thought for ya. I buy antlerless tags for 7$…lotta meat for 7$

I know one guy who gets most of his meat from hunting. I considered it, but it is time consuming and the initial outlay is quite high.

You are correct. My dad has a tree farm and he’ll kill any deer that threatens his “crop”.

@MarkKO, there are a lot of hunters who just want to kill stuff. You might be able to take the meat off their hands if you pay for processing and let them keep the “trophy”.

Listened to one Joe Rogans podcast he had an epidemiologist on for obvious reasons. They talked about deer wasting disease and how if that transmitted to humans that would be real virus trouble. Interesting listen if you like his podcast.

I now look at the deer in the backyard making sure they aren’t deer zombies… bastards do keep eating all my blackberries up though.

Thing is here most guys who just want to go and shoot stuff go for pests: foxes, rabbits, pigs, etc. I’d be iffy about eating feral pig, they’re known to have a few diseases you can catch. I’ve had typhoid once before, and that was enough for me. Not sure about goats.

Deer are kind of a big deal here even though they’re a pest. Kangaroo would be the best bet, and you’ve got to be careful you shoot the right ones or you get in trouble.

When we finally manage to buy our own home I might reconsider, because it’ll be easier to fit the required safe. We’re required to have a safe rated to certain specifications and fixed to the floor in a specific way. Separate safe for ammunition too. Good hunting is probably no more than a 40 minute drive away from here. The rifle and scope isn’t that dear and I know a couple of experienced guys who would be able to.help me get the right setup.

My dad hunts with a bow. Surely that doesn’t require a safe!

Honestly, I’d love to have a safe bolted to the floor. Anything else can be stolen so what’s the point? I’d like to have a fireproof safe but it would be so heavy that it’d have to go in the basement and that’d be a long ways from my bedside on the 2nd floor.
