Well, it’s an infection so I’m getting meds. The bad news is that they weighed me. Almost made it. 106 kgs fully dressed (pants, belt, t-shirt, hat and shoes). 233-234 fully dressed. So maybe 225-228 first thing in the morning…
Sounds like a time to step of the gas. Good call.
We’ve been sick in our house for 8 weeks. One thing or the other. I have not felt like myself since I can remember. Kids bring home the nastiest shit, and it just keeps coming. My 6 year old literally gets better for maybe 3 days, then starts coughing, or fever, or ears, or …my 10 year old does pretty well typically. However, my poor wife takes the brunt of it all. She’s a stay at home mom so she’s up with them at night.l, Drs apts, etc. It’s hard man. Just got to get through it. Working sick is horrible. Like 10/10 horrible. Hang in there. It’s just time. Got to get to the other side. Medicate to the best of your ability. When I have stuff mostly above the chest, it’s coffee, Ibuprofen/cold & sinus every 6 hours during the day, and meds during the night. NyQuil has always been my go to. Pound zinc lozenges too. I think they lessen duration. May just be voodoo, but I like them.
As far as the shoulder. You don’t know someone else that will order the MRI? Don’t accept waiting till next year. No way. I cannot believe they won’t work with you on this. Also, yes, my chiro will order my MRIs. You can make this happen, but you’re going to need to be persuasive.
That’s my combo, too.
Every time I get sick someone tells me to take Mucinex D. I’ve tried it multiple times and it never outperforms my off brand Sudafed.

Woke up feeling sick, but not as bad as my poor son. He spent the night throwing up and my saint of a wife took care of him.
I actually did a little bit of shoulder work before dinner last night. PT warm up, lat raises all the way over my head and I even did those six way raises @jackolee showed me last year. I also spent some time looking in the mirror while trying to do an overhead press with my elbows in (like close grip). It’s not easy for my good arm. I think it causes some impingement due to the way I’m built (probably the same for all of us). The difference between arms is that my good arm can smoothly move through the joint to a better position while my right arm seems to get stuck or hung up. And the pain. It’s difficult to do the movement with my good arm but it doesn’t hurt at all.
Sorry to hear about you being sick J.
Good call to go to the doc and get some meds.
Hope you’ll get better soon. Wish I could help with some wisdom to cure your shoulder, but you seem to have done all the right stuff… so press on for that MRI this year.
Funny I opted out of the six way motion at the end of my shoulder workout because of pain in the rear delt area. Sorry to here that your still having impingement issues and pain. Did you ever find a way to get the MRI scheduled before the end of the year?
I haven’t tried. I really don’t know who to ask. I’ll talk to my PT about it tomorrow. I don’t need a referral, but I need someone to order it so they know what imaging to do. I don’t think I could call the place that did my first one and just ask them to repeat that order.
I feel human again!
6 Weeks to 500 W4 D1
This is no longer a six week plan so from this point forward I will be calling it The Road to 500.
I also decided to switch to a three day per week full body split. It’s the same exercises and reps but it’ll spread it over more time. I think I can afford to do that right now.

I’m in the 5/4/3/2/1 phase for legs now. This is the fun part. I’m doing a 3x12 progression on upper body. If I get the reps then I’ll add weight and keep going till I hit 3x12 again.

Had PT this morning and we did a little more brainstorming. If I hold a band that’s pulling my arm inward then I can move my arm without pain. It causes my external rotators to fire. That seems to keep my humerus depressed so there’s no pinching.
That’s the good news. The downside is that we’ve hammered my external rotator and serratus every step of the way and it’s just not responding quickly. My external rotation strength goes up about four pounds every four to five weeks. Last week was eval week and my right arm was 28 lbs and my left was 39 lbs.
I’m going to try to find someone to order an MRI this week.
This sounds structural John. The MRI is a good idea. I had a friend that had a torn tendon missed by the surgeon
Well, that would suck! My primary might do it. I’m getting scheduled with her now.
I have super high T and probably high E and its the estrogen that makes me get all weepy at shit. My wife looks over at me like WTF?
Good luck with the shoulder J, it sucks to be constantly fighting injuries!
Otherwise, I hope all is well.
These are hell on the bicep tendon and shoulder if they’re injured, don’t you think you might wanna stop them? Even if they’re pain free right now it doesn’t mean they’re not exacerbating your symptoms.
Yeah, you need to ingest some Test ASAP
The older I get, the more sentimental I get. I can cry at a great performance on the Voice =)
Like @studhammer said - Elevated E can cause those symptoms.
No, not really. I’ve been injured or recovering from injury for over two years. I’ve learned some things.
I have no pain during or after the movement. I’m not doing a high pull or any shoulder flexion. I don’t think my biceps tendon is doing much in the movement, especially since it no longer attaches to my scapula.
I talk regularly with my PT about what I do. I push myself but don’t do things that will set me back.
My biggest takeaway from my hip issues after my surgery is that avoiding every discomfort isn’t necessarily a good thing. I caused more problems by doing that and it set me back more than surgery.
I probably won’t stop doing clean pulls, but I’ll consider the warning. Going lighter isn’t a bad idea; it’ll help me with my speed.

I have an appointment tomorrow at 10:30 with my primary doctor. Hopefully i can convince her to order an MRI.

Doc is going to order my MRI. Hopefully it can be scheduled soon. The folks in radiology will call me to schedule.
If your surgeon missed a tear, you owe me a Coke! LOL
