Not taking anything away from him, I think he got that, but what’s with these spotters touching the weights all the time in these WR attempts? Unless my eyes misled me, the guy with the grey beard on the right definitely looked like he was touching it at times.

I genuinely believe that attempt was his, didn’t see any assisting from the spotters, just annoys me.

Yea looks like the are just about not touching it. looks like a bit of a soft lockout to me though.
Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll hit a much cleaner 781 in like 5 or 6 weeks.

If they aren’t practically touching during the attempt, they will be pretty much worthless when the need comes. Especially bad when one side is Johnny on the spot and the other is late to the party.

Yeah, definitely looks like it, according to most if not all PL feds that is a cause for a disqualifying the lift. They need to make sure the spotters know what they are doing, I think sometimes it’s a big lift so the spotters get nervous and want to prevent a disaster but it makes the lift questionable. Same thing happened on Dan Bell’s squat last week.

Yeah those safeties are a solid 6-8 inches lower than they could have been while still having plenty of clearance. Raising them would have completely taken any serious injury risk associated with dropping the weight so the side spots wouldn’t have had to be so aggressive. A couple friends of mine were here, one competing, and got to see it in person. Super jealous…

The pad on that bench looks like a mix between a regular bench pad and a fat pad. I am good for another 10 lbs with a fat pad.
