Journey To a 700 Deadlift!

Hit by a car? How? Shit sucks man. Get better soon.

Well, you see, the car made contact with me, that’s how.

But seriously, I got like 5ft off the curb and BAM. It seems like I pulled my quad. Hopefully I’ll be squatting soon…

Damn man. I saw this on facebook but hoped it to be a strange joke. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

LOL a sense of humor is a sure sign of a speedy recovery

Thanks guys!

On a lighter note, I’m fairly certain I’ll be competing in SportsFest Strongman IV on July 21st! As long as my dad is willing to drive me. We don’t like breaking the Sabbath, but I can only find events on Saturdays, and I’m pretty sure SERVILE work is all that’s forbidden. The events are as follows:

Alternating Circus Dumbbell Press: 60 second time limit ? 1pt for lighter press, 2pts for heavier
press; competitor may alternate dumbbells or stay at one dumbbell; most points wins
HW: 140# (1pt)/160# (2pt)

Keg Carry: 60 second time limit - 50 feet each keg
HW 250#/270#/280#

Car Deadlift: 60 second time limit
HW: economy car 100#?s

Max Tire Flips: 60 second time limit
HW: 660#

Keg/Sandbag load: 60 second time limit - platforms are 44" high, 10 feet apart
HW: 250# sandbag, 150# keg, 280# keg, 300# sandbag

Training Adjustments:
Deadlifting will be done for higher reps (8-10), and from the 1st pin on the power rack, not the floor, as I’ve heard the handles are a little higher than pulling from the floor.

Putting an emphasis on strict one arm presses for higher reps (8-10/per arm) as we only have 130s at my gym. Push pressing will be used to meet rep requirements however.

Keg/Tire will be high-priority events. It’s a shame I can never use the tire because the parking lot is full. Maybe on Saturday when the Jews aren’t parking there to NOT train…

I’m psyched.

That’s awesome man. You’ll kill.

Awesome. I approve of this development.

Well it’s apparent from standard medical logic that I suffered an MCL injury. It still hurts as much as it did on day 1.

On a lighter note, I just called the event’s promoter, and I was right, bar weight for the car deadlift is around 550 for HW. But I did learn it’s from like 16 inches, which is higher then I thought. That event looks like light work.

I also just realized (with a tape measure) that what I thought was an 18in deadlift was a 16 in deadlift, so I can actually put up more weight then I thought.

Well, turns out I won’t have anyone to drive me, so that show is off the table…

I trained back today, did some pulldowns, rows, curls, rear delts etc.

I can’t stand not training legs.

HOWEVER, I’ll continue training as if I WAS going to go to that show.

Want a ride? Are you in NY City or state? If it’s city I could possibly give you a lift. I have a job there during summer.I’m offering forth compassion cuz I know how much traffic accidents impeding on training fucking suck haha. Seriousl though great fucking numbers and interesting training

I live in Brooklyn. If that’s the right area, PM me and I’ll keep you in my contacts bro.

Well lucky fucking me, the gym I go to made the guys get rid of all the strongman equipment…

Kegs, stones, axle, farmers, etc ALL FUCKING GONE.

FML…

Why’d they toss the strongman stuff?

The gym aparantly wants to use that back room I guess. The gys with the SM equpment didn’t decide that, the gym did. Either way, this means I’m going to USAPL Championship (Powerlifting, probably Push/Pull) on August 12 in NJ. Gotta get dat der deadlift/bench up.

Sorry, haven’t been on in a while.

Yesterday hit floor press for 315x2 after an easy seated press of 235x1. My forearms are apparently pretty short, since my floor press ends like 2-3 inches from my chest, with a flat back, which is a blessing for shoulder health in pressing moves.

In other news, I can hit depth in a bodyweight squat without much pain, and a fairly narrow stance. My goal is to slowely progress to an Oly/ATG BW squat before I train legs again, for maybe 20 reps.

Yesterday I deadlifted, got 405 with no pain, still can’t extend that knee all the way though.

PROGRESS.

Do you have any training partners that know that commands? I’d recommend practicing once you’re healthy. I’m practicing them right now and can be annoying at times. Also I’m pretty sure USAPL requires lifters to wear some sort of knee-length sock that cuts off below the knee during deadlifts. Make sure you check on that as well as any other clothing regulations.

Yeah I do, my father used to compete in PL; had a 600+ pull at 170 something, supposedly. He, and I, know all the commands.

I’m pretty sure I’m gonna need to by a singlet to.

Good stuff
