I’m on the road to 495, myself.
I have done 410x2. I’m using a modified WSBB routine with no gear, no band, no chains. I typically wear no protective gear or straps.
My last workout was 350x5x4.

pulled 445lbs yday for single.
want to reach 500lbs soon !!!
I pulled 462 at the end of my 3rd 531 cycle. I’m coming to the end of my 5th cycle and feel really tempted to try for the 495/500 PR. My training partner and I did say we’d leave the singles alone (easy for him to say, he pulled 500!) but you know what it’s like…
Nice lift bignate, looked rather easy, apart from the lockout where you appeared to struggle a little. Congrats!
wow awesome thread. great for motivation, love the videos! i’m right at or just under 405 currently so gimme a year. i think mine will go up fast cause i weight 240 somethin already my size is a little betrer than my strength. deadlifting is my religion and konstantinov and benni are my gods! all hail the deadlift! will see yall again in a year
and take care of those lower backs. slow n steady is the best!

A very explosive 365+2mini bands with my feet on them standing on 25lb plates sumo stance deadlift. I’m thinking I’ll be able to get quite a bit more next week.[/quote]
Tried again a week ago, but with 405 free weight and got it a couple inches above my knees, strained for what seemed like forever and had to let it go. So close.
Does anyone have tips for using GMs as an ME for improving pulls? I was thinking of using a wide as comfortable stance, low bar position, from pins and going for a 3-5RM.
since u ben getting stuck in pulling the weight from the knee, i would say u should start doing rack deadlift from knee or below that.
gm’s are the must if you want to increase your deadlift and also stiff leg deadlift.
Also doing deadlift on a platform helps a lot, weight should be 50% of your 1rm.

Without bands, I get stuck or just completely lose it a couple or so inches off the floor. And I was doing the pull standing on quarter plates.
tried and failed 455 about 6 times yesterday. I’ve been informed that my form needs work, thinking GVT to work form.
385 standing on 2 25’s per foot. Went for 405 first and almost got it, but lost it about mid-shin.
I’d like to join this challenge. My best deadlift is 440lbs at a bodyweight of 175.
Popping in to say i just made an easy 213kg Conv DL, no belt, hookgrip. Still no big deal, but a little progress. Still some ground to cover. 215kg should go anytime I like it and from there not a long way to 220, and from there not so far to 225, so it will come. ![]()
Good luck to everyone else!
I’d probably get to 495 sooner if I stopped doing stuff in the 10 rep range. Oh since this thread is kind of slow it might be good to here what people are currently doing to get to their 495 goal regardless of their current weight. 5/3/1 here.
Modified Westside template. For ME lower, I’m using a 1:1 ratio of deadlift to deadlift helping squat variation.
Deadlift helping squat variation=box front squat, zercher squat from pins, high box back squat
Edit:
Deadlift variations include 3-4 in deficit deads, 1.5-2in deficit+band or chain deads, conventional deads
I like it! Thats a solid goal for anyone at any body weight. Im 190 and current best is 425 no straps and NO CHALK (fucking stupid gym rules…). I am hoping for 495 in the next 3-4 months at this body weight.

Nothing in particular. Just throwing in the odd deadlifitng between all my squat sessions, which is my main lift.

Agreed. 495lbs is a decent deadlift. Not spectacular, but decent.
I pulled a PB of 407 this time last month when testing my estimated 1RM. I’m in my 5/3/1 week in my third cycle of 5/3/1 now. I’ve a lovely stiff back this morning from 325 x 8 yesterday.
My plan at the moment mainly just involves Jim’s BBB template so it’s 5 sets of 50% of my training max for assistance after the main lift. So yesterday that was 5 x (170 x 10). I do some or all of those with a snatch grip to work my grip a bit harder. On my squat day I do something like GHR as part of the assistance work.
Weight in Kg
5/3/1
117.5 x 5
132.5 x 3
147.5 x 1+ .I got 8 - Estimated 1RM up from 185kg to 187kg based on this.
Assistance
77.5 x 10 x 5
Got a 405x1RM from 3-4in deficit easy. Went for 425 and it went up a couple centimeters and came straight down. I’ll try it next week, I think I still have some more progress to make on this variation before I stall.
Well done Fletch!
