I’ll join this race, I should be there some time soon. I have been pulling 425 sets easily lately and have pulled a 445 for two last time I maxed out… 6 months ago. See where I am at when I finish my current program.[/quote]

majik. nobody is going to pay attention to anything you say, all we can see is your avatar.

Distraction, motivation to me it’s both.

thanks stallion. been a while since i had pulled a single surprised that i was still where i was at 2 months ago since i have really only been doing back squats and rdls. ill keep pluggin and see what i can get here in this next month. kinda want my 495 to be super clean not a slop through. that being said, ashylarryku take that weight down and start at 405 with tight form. power through mechanics. not saying the pulls arent legit but you wouldnt be given a good lift call on 460 because you hyperextended your lumbar not firing glutes and extending hips. we are both the same build, and you"re strong and young. dont hurt yourself now. it’s a QUEST for 495 not a race. go for a methodical approach not just young testosterone rage.

i disagree on the reason for not passing. larry, looking closely it looked like your knees weren’t locked. strong pull either way.

“it’s a QUEST for 495 not a race”

Well said.

Definitely would not be a fair race since some are closer than others.

375x10 estimated 1RM says 500. I know that does not mean I could lift 500 but its a good start.

sufiandy: I’d love to see a DL video with you in the outfit in your avtar.

430 deadlift

At this rate i’ll hit 495 by spring

365x5 today, thinking of staying with this every second week and trying to add a rep or so for a while. This felt pretty easy and I probably could have gotten a sixth but it would have been ugly and killed me for the rest of my workout. Was filmed on my friends Iphone 3g and apparently when he emails it, it saves as a gif so sorry for that.

315 Zercher squat. Found out a way to rig up an adjustable bench to do reverse hypers. This is helping recovery a lot. It is so worth the time and effort for the set up. (elevate the bench, I use 2 45lb rubber coated plates/side, set the bench at a 45degree incline or less and have at it). I love how my back is getting worked out and fixed up at the same time. Louie Simmons is a genius.

I just hit 500 last night. It felt really good. Had to put the 2.5s on the side haha

Nicely done. Without a hitch <—see what I did there

I look forward to the feeling of ripping that much weight off the ground.

Can I join? Strictly speaking my “best” is 525, but that was about two years ago, and I was 30 pounds heavier at the time. I’ve since done a lot of Crossfitting, so my last maxing was a paltry 415, no chalk and not having done a single heavy deadlift in about 13 months.

Regardless, my actual goal is 585, but I’ve gotta hit 495 before I do!

I’m not one to post but I really need to get my head out of my ass and get 495. I should have it by now but I keep attempting to feed my ego and bulldoze past 495(to 505). Most I can honestly say I’ve done is 475, which I’m still capable of doing right this minute. However it isn’t as much of a challenge to me as it used to and I keep trying to go 475->505. So hopefully this thread will make me quit my BS and climb my way up.

Oh and I lift conventional switched grip. Chalk and Socks. 5’10 210lbs 18yrs male.

Oh also I forgot to add, I’m cutting down to 182

If the most of you’ve done is 475, next time try 480. Then 485…

I can say from EXPERIENCE that trying to make hops too big does nothing but hold you back in the long haul. I -wish- I’d been smarter about that a couple years ago, I’d probably be pulling in the 600s by now.

Come on in!

So, quick update. Week 1 of the 531, the routine called for 315 as the main set, so I chalked up, narrowed my stance (another alteration), and tested things out. Result?

At least my form is still solid.

Yea I realize that with all my others lifts it’s just that I hadn’t deadlifted for max for over 2 months and when I came back I surprised myself and ripped 455 off the ground, 475 felt like 435, and when I tried 505 I came within 2 inches of lock out before my grip failed me. I used to be the kind of guy that if I could get off the floor I could lock it out, now I can rip it off the floor and am unable to lockout the last 1 or 2 inches…very annoying.

Static holds!! If your grip is going, force it to get better. I used to hop in the rack and put about 635 on, then hold it for 20-30 seconds. Or, alternately, do farmer walks with dumbbells. Whatever you need to get those hands up to par.

Although, really, I think it’s better to fail at lockout then off the floor. Nothing is more embarrassing than psyching yourself up for a big deadlift and having a gym of spectators watch you grunt and struggle, but the bar doesn’t budge!!

I haven’t done THIS in a while. I feel pretty awesome, to be honest.
