i’m in. pr is 455, although that was with straps and belt. my best rack pull from midshin is 500 (again with straps and belt). Without straps, I’ve hit 425, but my grip seems to be a major factor. 495…here we go!
Chalk, if you’ve never used it, makes such a huge difference… I’ve never felt a grip slip with chalk on, though without it I use straps on my upright rows with 245lbs. It’s kind of embarrassing.
You do upright rows with 245lbs?

wow thats alotta weight to pull up to your chest

are upright rows similar to high pulls?? which one would be better for improving dl strength??

I’m in, hit 190kg (418lbs) x4 yesterday so I’m hoping to get 225kg (495lbs) in 4 weeks.

In. Not sure if I posted here already! PR is 475@170lb! Doing Ortmayer Deadlift program at the moment, hoping to pull 515 after!

awesome work guys, pulled 405x2, almost three after trying to fight on a suit for a half hour last night. likely could have made third rep if i hadn’t been so tired. puts me around a 445 single.

I’m in too! I’ll get videos to post.

462lbs today:

Thanks to this thread (Thanks to the starter of the thread), I am on my way to 495. If it was not for this thread, I’d probably not set this goal, as I’m not so interested in the DL as I am in the SQ. However, I consider anything for me personally below 250kg non-impressive. Therefore I will not celebrate when I make the PRs now. Getting to that 225kg, will make my DL a little bit better, but still not impressive.

GL to everyone in this thread. Great thread!

– Stallion

nice man! im testing at a 405*1 max…gonna put 90 more lbs on the bar one way or another!!!

what is stallion squatting these days?

HERC410: 253kg/557lbs ATG, no belt. I’ve been focusing on the squat as my main lift for the last years. But I’ve also worked the bench very seriously to get to a 330lbs bench. The deadlift I have not focused on.

I’ve got a 517 sumo DL from last year (2009) (no belt). The conventional DL with double overhand hookgrip as in this thread, I’ve never lifted much with.

The sumo DL would probably be up to par with the squat if I focused on it (it used to be when I did so), but I don’t care that much about it, I’ve just focused on getting a big squat.

Was never worried abot DL strength, as I know it would catch up when I started to focus again, given my leg strength. It’s just that I find the squat very enjoyable, not only getting a new PR, but very much so the process in getting there. When I squat, I feel normal, if I don’t squat, something is missing.

fighterkhan: Of course you will make it!

i’ve just reached a big milestone with 4 plates…now my question is…is it okay for me to use two styles of dl (sumo + conventional) or would focusing on one particular one help me make gains more quickly…

with sumo the most i’ve pulled is 375 and with conventional double overhand i got the 405

I’m strongest with sumo myself and for supp work, I sometimes did 3 reps conventional, 3 reps sumo and that was one set. Usually, for supp or ME work, I rarely go sumo because my hips are very rarely my weak point. If your hips are weak on conventional, working in some sumo would help strengthen them. You’ll just have to experiment and see what works out for you. I’m not sure if I’m preaching to the choir or not but make sure you log your progress so you can look back and see if it helps.

Failed 455lb today, got to my knees. What used to be my favorite lift is now my slowest progressing :frowning:

tiger: you will get it soon!

Thanks, I ripped 405 in my warm up so i thought i would be good for it. Heres the video of 405x1

That’s how my workout went (albeit sumo is stronger for me). Conventional 405 flew up with virtually no strain, went for 455 and maybe got it an inch off the ground and struggled for a couple seconds before I gave up for my back’s sake. Bumped down to 435 and failed worse on that than the 455. Just too worn out. I’ll have to try 435 again next week, then move on to my next ME movement. Maybe front box squats or deficit sumo deads because I’m so weak off the ground depending on my energy levels next week.

Anyway, keep it up you’ll get there and good luck to everybody.

Just popping in to say that I’ve had no progress since I did 210kg. Too much stress outside the gym. But I will keep going. Good luck to everyone. Keep posting, so we keep this thread on the first page!

I pulled 200kg (440lbs) today for a single, I’m gettin closer.

I got 445 last week, relatively easily. The girl I gave my phone to didn’t know how to press “record” though, so no camera shot. I might wait awhile, do some repped DLs, deficit deads, or speed-pulls in the meantime… and try to hit 465 as my next PR in a few weeks after I try to bring my squat back up.
