Jim Wendler's New Forum

So is my man Jim Wendler going to stop writing at TNation now that he’s putting his new forum up for $19.99/month?

Good for him for making some money. I bought the 5/3/1 book and have made immediate gains over the last 3 months. I’m not putting up $240/year to belong to the forum. First, if you can’t figure out 5/3/1, you have reading comprehension issues. Second, Jim doesn’t recommend forums so on principle, I feel he is contradicting himself to make money. The Ohio economy can’t be that bad with all the auto bailouts from Barry O.

Still love the guy and think he is a genius. Please don’t go Pavel on us and completely sell out No need for NOV certs or any garbage like that.

I couldn’t agree more it sucks because his stuff is my favorite to read but the beauty of the internet is free information and I will not be paying for it. Although I don’t blame him one bit there’s not one person on here who wouldn’t do the same thing of they had the option

Can’t blame a man in a capitalist society making money. North of Vag certifications??? I love it!! Like DragonDoor or StrongFirst! TRexMoney, NOV That would be hilarious. You would have workshops on creating Excel spreadsheets and functional multiplication equations.

TRexMoney NOV Team Leader will demonstrate how pushing the prowler will raise you up above the holiest of holes.

As I have gotten older and hopefully wiser, I have developed a philosophy about thinking for myself and not letting others decide things for me. I advise that for everyone. I have no problems with your opinion and you may think a forum is “selling out”. I have my own opinions and this is my life and my work. At the end of the day, if you can look at yourself in the mirror and know you are doing good; doing what you believe is right, then you will be at peace. And I can tell you, I am very much at peace.

This forum is much more than a 5/3/1 forum. This is for serious, dedicated lifter who want to make strides in their lifting and their life. And it isn’t for everyone and that’s OK - you have a choice.

I will continue writing for TNation.

I will gladly pay $20.00 to have access to a community of nothing but serious athletes.

I hope Jim moderates the place like a nazi too.
All training, 24/7.

Thanks Jim I have both 531 books and would buy any other books you write.

I’m glad you’ll still be writing for TNation. Thanks for clarifying and best of luck. TREX $, NOV

You know what, if this is the case, I may consider paying for the forum.

edit: but shit man, $20 bucks a month… $10 bucks sound a bit more reasonable.

$10 a month and I would be in with a NOV grin. But, for $20 I will still give serious consideration to joining.

Jim if you are lurking: Is this geared only towards 5/3/1 lifters?
I used it all of last year but this is “Sheiko year” for me. Likely to head back to 5/3/1 again in 2014.

20 bucks a month for a forum. That’s hilarious and stupid.

I don’t think that’s a ridiculous amount of money given how much the majority of guys at my gym spend on preworkouts a month.

I do think a selective or restricted venue of sorts is useful. Just look at eliteFTS. Their q and a and log sections work based on being somewhat one sided.

edit: the frequency project template is awesome. I will definitely consider joining the forum in the future.

One day when you are strong you can make your own forum for free.

My gym membership where I do 5/3/1 and work to be NOV is less than that and no, it’s not Planet Fitness.

Even though I have been following his program for the last couple of years, 20 bucks a month is too rich for my blood. 5 bucks a month and I would consider it. Bought his books and they are wealth of information. Simple, no nonsense, straight to the point, and it works for me. I like that. Will be buying his next book, whenever that comes out.

A pint of beer in Norway cost roughly 50kr, wich is roughly 10 bucks. I think two beers a month is something almost everyone can afford if they really want to join that forum.

Btw: I am not talking about what a beer cost in a store, but what they cost out at bars, restuarants etc.

I was thinking what I would pay for a forum like that, well I would pay 10$ if I decided to move towards strength, but I’m not a serious lifter! So I’d imagine if I was, 20$ wouldn’t be an issue to me at all for an investment!

Anyway, just drives the idea that his forum really will only be serious lifters now (my thoughts anyway)

Fair ramble point!
No doubt Jim wants to keep it a moron-free zone. Charging a relatively high amount for membership will make it less appealing to trolls, and will ensure that only people who are fairly serious about their 5/3/1-ing will sign up.

I would consider it actually, and if I feel its not worth it I would cancel. IMO if your going to invest $20 a month for forum you will lose alot of the trolls that post in free forums and be left with like minded serious about lifting individuals. Jim’s ideals and philosophies mean and meant alot to me, to join and check it out for 66 cents a day is the least I could do (SALLY STRUTHERS MOMENT!)

Would I be correct if I thought you’re not going to write another book about westside type of training?

I’ve always thought that if the book of methods had the same information in it, but was written by you it would be 10x better
