Hi Jim,
Is it necessary to do barbell curls, to build stronger and bigger arms?
Dips and presses, chins and rows are still enough in order to build some strong and impressive arms?
I know that curls are part of your wendler 6 assistance exercises, but I can not go wrong with chins and dips as main mass builders for my arms, right?
Dude I thought that for like 2 years also, and while they did build my arms, once I started incorporated just regular ole alternating DB curls (regular and hammer) I actually started noticing size differences. 3-4 sets at the end of any upper body day isn’t going to severely sap your recovery. Plus doing curls just feel good, awesome for the mental. Am I crazy in thinking this, fellas? Or am I as vain as I sound?

Anyone who denies this is lying lol.
You need to find this out for yourself. I wouldn’t do anything if you’re happy with your arms and I wouldn’t go from zero arm work to a brosolation day:
3x8 incline curl
3x10 bb curl
2x12 alternating db curl
3x15 cable curl
2x20 concentration curl (most important)
Type nonsense though

No, you’re right. I’ve been doing a few sets of higher rep curls with a knurled heavier fat bar at the end of my bench workout and like it.
Compounds are important but if you want bigger arms, you have to curl as well.
i happen to know that Jim loves curls. he’s always telling me that he’s a bi-guy.

For most yes, But the curls aren’t just there to grow your arms. It is there to make your arms stronger and your shoulders healthier. Strong legs, lungs, back, arms, grip = strong man.

I get it. I have readed your article 531 and added arm work. For now i am going to do this:
Press 531 + supplemental work
dips - 3 sets of 10 - 20 reps
chins - 3 sets of 10 - 20 reps (if i am strong enough)
Bench press 531 + supplemental work
barbell rows 3 sets of 10 - 20 reps
ez bar curls 3 sets of 10 - 20 reps
Thank you for your answer, i get it. Have a good day.
