James' Training Log - Juggernaut Method

That 225 set is nauseating to watch.

Good job!

Holy shit…great resolve…no way I would even attempt that shit, chunks would be everywhere

Jaysus James…

That’s fuckin’ crazy!

Squats: 5135, 185, 225, 275
Bench: 4
8185. 112185
Pull ups: 5 sets
(a)BBRs: 5
5225
(b)Face pulls: 4
895
(a)DB Press: 3
855
(b)Curls: 3
850
(a)Tricep pushdowns (single arm): 3
8*
(b)HLR:3 sets

I took 3 days completely off and counted that as my deload. This session went well, and I changed a couple of lifts. I took out the pull downs and put in rows because I’m doing pull ups in between my bench sets. I also added tricep pushdowns instead of shrugs because my triceps can always use more work. I run with those accessory lifts for a month and see how I like them. I’ll add weight onto the rows next session as I got all 5*5 with no problem.

I definitely would not have done the 2 minutes of death had it not been for the challenge thread. Thanks for the support everyone!

Squats: 48225. 112225
Step ups: 4675
GMs: 135, 155, 185

Not a bad session today. The squats went well but I could feel myself leaning over too much. Because of this my lower back was fatigued for the step ups and good mornings which is why I went light on the gm’s. I’m going to really focus on keeping my chest up for my next session. It’s hard doing this many reps and keeping my form correct.

I upped the weight on the step ups. It seems like really light when you see it on the bar but my knee is above my hips when I start and it’s tough to get myself up. The reps don’t look pretty but I’m doing the work.

23 Oct - Evening

10 * 40 yard sprints. Unweighted. Got tackled by my dog on the 8th sprint fully taking me down. He’s 140ish and it was a broadside which took me by surprise.

james

Thats a hell of a surprise…what kind of dog do you have?

He’s a Saint Bernard. He was laying down after running around. I typically keep an eye out on him but I didn’t think he was going to get up. Next thing I know we’re on the ground.

james

Now thats the kind of unbalanced training that not everyone can do. Dog evasion sprints.

You definitely have to have the right size dog. It would make no sense to try it with a small poodle or c-dog (I’m not even going to try to spell that…). I’m not saying that I would necessarily recommend it but it does add a bit of spice to the training.

james

Great training James. My yellow lab constantly is dropping tennis balls at my feet. He’ll even do this when I’m carrying stones. He’s gonna get crushed one of these days.

LOL James should write an article about it…

So you’re doing your stepups with a barbell. I’m just using relatively small DBs but do the eccentric like a pistol squat . . . like three or four seconds down. And I do the whole set with one leg before moving to the next. I gotta say it really taxes me.

You’re definitely doing them in a more disciplined manner than I am. I concentrate on the up but I come down pretty quickly. It’s controlled, but just. I’m trying to get to where I can get to 135 without killing myself. I’ve done these a long time ago but I didn’t put the box high enough and I can’t believe the difference it makes.

Matty - Yeah, if I developed a program one of the prerequisites would be access to a big dog. That and lack of brains enough to keep him tied down. My chest is still sore from where he hit me!

Haha…they just don’t realize how dangerous it is. My son and dog used to try to come around when I was swinging the kettlebell and that just got interesting. Now the dog is typically cool with just watching but my son wants to try everything I’m doing.

26 Oct
Squats: 5135, 185, 225, 275
OHP: 4
8125. 112125
Pull ups: 5 sets
Pendlay rows: 5
5230
Tricep pushdowns : 4
860
HLRs: 3 sets
Curls: 3
7*55

Everything went well today. My back was a bit tight but the squats helped to fix that. I knocked out 12 reps on my last set. On these early sets you’re supposed to do more than is scheduled but still leave 2-3 in the tank which was about right.

I supersetted all of the accessory work which worked out really well. I also filmed my HLRs following the tradition of snap. I’ll post it up later on tonight when I get the chance.

Squats: 5135, 185, 225, 275
Deads: 4
8315, 10@315
Good mornings: 135, 185, 205
HLRL 3
10

Deads were tough and I did them double overhand except for the last set which were mixed grip. I practiced keeping my chest high on squats. Doing these daily is really helping my form considerably.

james

I’m not sure I could handle doing those daily. Fine work.

Thanks Joe. I can recover from these pretty easily because I’m not using a super heavy weight. The point of these is first and foremost to reinforce technique and get my body warmed up. Any actual hard work is secondary.
