315 for 8? that must surely qualify you as knowing everything there is to know about training and productivity. Thanks for the good laugh.

I’m getting the impression that this thread is becoming redundent. People continue bash Jake. I mean I fully understand why, cause the man doesn’t follow peoples advice. We’ve established this. I don’t disagree with how everyone feels about him not listening but continully bringin up his mistakes certainly isn’t going to make things better. I know i’m guilty for doing what everyone else has done and thats bash his training and eating regimine but now I think its getting old. Just my opinion

Egg

Yes its getting old, but EVERY time he posts some off the wall training he did it brings it ALL back up again.
Perhaps he would be better served KEEPING A BLOG that way he has his records and people here dont have to look at his idiocy…
Just an idea.

Not in the least. But, it still makes me stronger than you. You continue to get defensive over your wacky eating and training. I wasn’t trying to talk shit, I was trying to suggest you take a different route.

Let’s see some pics of the BEAST!

At mere weight of 190, I have trouble believing the numbers you are putting up with your level of bodyfat.

I mean, all the fat and what should be a decent amount of muscle doesn’t seem like it could only be 190…

How tall are you?

I am 5’8". I will try and get some pictures up later.

Gee, I wonder why you have not put up the pictures yet. Hmmmmm…

hmmm…

What could the reason be?

Let’s see some progress pics!

ok, I will later. I have been putting it off because I don’t really see the need in posting as I still haven’t noticed anything. I have been at 190 lbs for over 2 weeks. Don’t tell me it is my diet because I am taking in the same amount of calories I would be taking in if I ate like everyone recommended here. In fact, I am probably taking in more.

Notes:
Bench is really coming around. Feeling much more stronger on it and my speed feels very fast. I am starting to find my grove and I am hoping I can maintain this with heavier weights. I am working on trying to get tighter, but due to my lack of flexibility, it is hard to without cramping. I am going to lay off speed bench next time and do a repetition session as my elbows were starting to hurt.

be careful of locking out the elbows on the speedbench

Do you really think doing half a back work out at the gym and then the other half at home is going to be anywhere near productive?

So, you claim to have little progress and justify this to not post images? Post the images.

Yes. Remember again, I am doing powerlifting. Not bodybuilding. Big difference. For strength purposes, it works. Just go look around at the westside threads and jonathansucks pages around here. Same type of training. Look at the numbers they put up. Yeah, a lot of them use equipment such as bench shits and squat briefs. The only thing I use is athletic tape to tape my wrist and chalk. My goal is to get my raw strength up and it will come in time.

Thursday 04/17/08 training

DE squat/ME dead

Speed sumo squat (on just below parallel box)
Bar x 2 x 15
145 x 2 x 5
195 x 5
195 x 2 + 1 chain/side (40 lbs)
195 x 8 x 2 + 2 chains/side (80 lbs)
195 x 3 x 2 + 3 chains/side (120 lbs)
235 x 5 (felt like nothing)

Sumo deadlifts
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 2 x 3
405 x 3
455 x 1 (pr sumo got too far forward but somehow was still able to get it)
455 x 1 conventional
475 x 1 conventional (PR)
495 x 0 (got it about 1/4 way)
455 x 1 conventional
405 x 3 sumo stance

Glute ham raise
BW x 6
BW + 25 x 2 x 6
BW + 25 x 5 (since my legs were sweaty, my quads started to slip under pad)

Roman chair situps
BW x 5
BW + 45 x 4 x 10 (weight above head)

Notes:
I was very pleased with my session today. I have been stretching my hips pretty good lately, and it is beginning to pay off. I had no hip pain or tightness today which was fuckn great. I feel I should be able to start doing some heavy squats again soon.

My deadlift session started off with me just wanting to get my hips used to pulling sumo stance again. I wasn’t planning on going heavy, but you now how that goes. My lower back was still sore from doing rack pulls 4 days ago, so I know it wasn’t the smarted thing to do. I was able to pull two PRs in my deadlift. I have never been able to pull 455 sumo stance before, and this really surprised me because I know sumo stance requires hip strength. I haven’t done anything to strengthen my hips.

Anyways, the 455 sumo took a lot out of me. Felt like it took me 5 minutes to get it up going inch by inch. Somehow I must have not have been sitting back all the way because about half way up I realized I was on my toes. If I would have been sitting back more, this weight should have been a lot easier to pull. I know this affected my conventional deadlift. I feel 495 would have been easy for me. I will be sure to get some training on my video camera for my next sessions.

I am going to eat, take a bath, then tke my dogs out on a walk. I will post pictures later. I promiss

So you’re using the excuse of “powerlifting” to rationalize your shitty physique then?

And the last time I checked, a 405 deadlift is not powerlifting by any standards. Well oh yeah, and I just don’t believe the majority of your numbers anyway.

If you truly want to powerlift, you need to build a foundation of strength first-- you have none.
