Austin-Pictured above (the look on that guy’s face tells it all). I’m sure someone else knows more than I do, but I think it changes the center of gravity for the squat, forcing you to use more upper back to keep yourself from eating the floor. I don’t know. It’s hard, but fun.

Matty-I only get to play with that equipment on Saturdays. I go to a gym that is pretty specific to strongman and powerlifting. It is heavenly. I count my lucky stars I get to use the gym and work out with the people there.

Today:

I’ll just cut to the chase. Today was pull up D-Day. I set a goal of 3x10 pull ups last year; attempted in December-failed. Attempted today-HIGHLY SUSPECT reps toward the end. I could have just cried if I weren’t so pissed. I’m currently in the denial stage. I’m not sure if I’ll take a week off and give them another go or if I’m going to just say whatever, be done with it, and set a new goal. UGGGGHHH.

Hey, you’re looking REALLY good on the pullups. What’s your approach, if you don’t mind my asking?

The only time I decided to add an emphasis for chins, I just started off at 3 sets of 5 (I could do about 12 easy-ish at the time) basically at the end of every workout (so 4x/week). Every week or two, I added a rep.

Over the course of 12 or so weeks I had, without struggling for a single rep, worked up to 3 sets of 12. And I decided to take one day and see how many I could do and I knocked off 24. I don’t think I’ve done any since, seriously :wink:

But if you don’t mind the repetition and patience involved, I think pullups/chins are one of those exercises you can sneak up on.

Might want to try 4x4 and then slowly work up to 4 sets of 8 over the next 8 or 10 weeks. Then see where you’re at.

What I like to do is a few weighted pull ups and then take the weight off and then the regular body weight pull ups feel like nothin’! It’s crazy awesome.

Anyway, you’re my hero. You are the sexiest pull upper I ever did see…

Reps were suspect but you did them from a dead hang so there’s no shame in that. And you didn’t full on kip so I would count them. Nothing wrong with making a new goal though and I’d go weighted. You’re making me really miss pull ups now…

You’re really lucky to be able to use all of that equipmet. I’m super jealous…

Hey all max effort movements whether it be reps or 1 rep maxes form is going to be compromised. I don’t care if its chins or deadlifts, if you did each of them with perfect form, it wouldn’t be much of a challenge…you did awesome…I could watch you do chin ups all day :wink:

Well i was going to make some sort of crossfit joke… naaahhhh just kidding. Very nice pullups though, keep hammering them and as spock said do some weighted pullups and you’ll get to your pullup goals.
