I’m assuming that you mean you avoid any conditioning because you are “bulking” now? Bad idea.
Always do conditioning. Even if trying to add weight.
2-3 conditioning sessions a week shouldn’t hurt your mass gain at all. It will actually help because you will be able to eat more calories without them turning into fat. It keeps your metabolism moving and you’ll have more wind for when you lift.
Why are you giving advice?
Maybe because the best advice is unsolicited advice. Especially from an 09er. Who has an uncanny likeness to Arnold. And the same nickname. Which obviously qualifies him to dole out the unsolicited advice. Did i mention he is class of 09?
Switched gyms starting yesterday… outgrew my campus gym so switched to a well-equipped golds (dbs to 150, almost every HS machine, etc etc)
Didn’t see any resolutioner types either… just tons of guys bigger than me which is a nice change in environment. We’ll see how it is today, first monday, but I’m doing legs today so even if it gets busy shouldn’t get in my way much

I’m still confused as to why everybody thinks that people won’t get in the way when you are doing legs, even if they aren’t? A lot of the times when I need the power rack, people will be using it for military presses, cleans, and bent over rows, and I can’t really complain because there aren’t a lot of open spaces for them to use other bars in the gym to do this stuff. Also, if it isn’t being used by normal lifters, some fool will be using it to stretch out his hamstrings or to do bicep curls.
And even if I’m not in the power rack, it’ll still be difficult to get the dumbbells I need for lunges and farmer walks because people are using them for other lifts like pressing and shrugs

Good point. Forget legs. Cardio anyone?

I really don’t need much equipment anyway. Dual cable machine, squat rack, chin-up bar, dip station, leg press, leg extension/leg curl machine, smith machine, chest fly/reverse flye machine, some bars and dumbbell handles and weights are really all I need. Craigslist has been a lifesaver for me.
Here in the Buffalo area, the lake effect snow kept all but the most dedicated of us regulars from hitting the gym on Sunday. Today was my off day then tomorrow legs in the basement on my new open power rack.
I’m dreading wednesday when I hit the commercial gym again to do upper body.
This just in. Black Monday was not black at all at my gym. Since others here have reported a similar downtrend in the annual stampede to the gym, I have an explanation: All the “resolutionists” this year have decided to wait for universal health care to save them.
I’m thinking of making this the central plot of a new movie I will call “Matrix: Resolutions”. The tag line, spoken by that one guy that does the voice over for all movie trailers, will be: “What if there was a gym? [cue ominous music] And no one came? [more ominous music]” (Only the baby boomers on here will get the tag line).

Hopefully there’s more eye candy in the gym.
I don’t think most new years resolution’ers fall into the category of eye candy.
That’s what I figured, but this wasn’t the case today. A bunch of new eye candy today, it was nice. There was this one broad with the fattest, nicest, roundest plump ass I’ve ever seen in person. Good thing I was dead with my deadlifts by that time.
Today wasn’t too bad…I did deads and made a lot of noise…some hot chicks here and there…not bad at all. I kind of like all this new people coming in cause it makes me feel stronger.

Agreed with that. I was also doing Deads today and I love the feeling when everyone in your area stops to watch. It gets exponentially more awesome when an epic band is playing on your headphones, like Ensiferum.

Today i joined gold’s for 1 month inbetween semesters, it was awesome. Lots of people, decent music playing, and big dumbells(150’s, the rec center only goes up to 100), hardcore atmosphere and more equipment variety. Downside, they only have 2 power racks and no lifting platform, but they were hardly used other than me. Lift hard and do like bonez and just scare everyone out of your way.

So ahhh, did we all pull form the floor tonight?
lol
I guess so, i recently moved deadlifts and back up to monday and moved legs to either wednsday or thursday. PB andy *2 on Ensiferum they’re an awesome band.
