It's 2010 - Avoid the Gym Until Feb.

Surprisingly uncrowded at the mega-gym I work out at as well. Strange. Afterward, went to the mall and found everyone there. Crazy packed. Took an hour just to get out of the parking lot. Who can work out when there is shopping to do?

Man, shit was pretty crowded in my gym…but then again I go to a Balley’s so thats to be expected.

Luckily no one was at the squat rack so I was able to do my good mornings and lunges. However, some lady was on the legpress preaching about how Obama’s healthcare sucks and how he’s some terrorist/socialist or something.

Mentioning how he shouldn’t be president because something about this country being founded on judeo-christian beliefs. Only reason I heard is because the left earbud on my headphones broke and doesn’t work anymore. Luckily, by the time I finished my good mornings she got off and went upstairs to preach.
Time for you to drop $20 on some new ear buds.
Usually I don’t pay attention to what other people are saying as I’m just focusing on what I’m doing but she was pretty loud and seemed really passionate about what she was saying.

Anyone got recommendations for good ear buds? I prefer ones that go directly into the ear.

The upside is I saw a group of three fat dudes probably in their late teens or so. I’ve never seen them before but then again I haven’t been back to this gym for a while since I only go to it when I’m on holiday and back home. Assuming they are resolutionists, I hope they lose some weight though and keep at it.

It’s the weekend - resolutions to “work out” just like “diets” can wait till Monday. I am guessing Monday night and Wednesday night will be the worst this week (people will be sore on Tuesday from their Monday “work out”, then “work out” Wednesday, be sore Thursday, and Friday is pretty much the weekend so “working out” can wait until Monday).

I might just work legs for a month to avoid all the noobs.

ha i assume you mean that glute kickback machine or whatever. that’s my favorite machine. i’ve never used it, true, but it’s still my favorite.
This one.

They usually sit there doing 50+ reps per set with light weight, some while reading the newspaper, exposing things not meant for the human eye to see.

I root for the fat guys too, but it gets frustrating when they’ve lost no weight in the past 3 years I’ve seen them at the gym, and they’re 350 lbs. One of those guys, I told off a while ago and told him to stop making excuses and just lose the weight. Don’t try, just do it!

Another guy I know has been doing really well. He’s been lifting at the same time, too, so he’s getting leaner and more muscular at the same time. Good for him. One girl I know got kinda hot as well. Just wish I lifted at a hardcore gym so the only fat guys there were the ones squatting 1,000 lbs. I’d have the nice selection of machinery, too.

^^^ You should come to the gym I go to in Taiwan, guys regularly use the good girl/bad girl machines. Sad.

Buy your own stuff and have a home gym.

it’s that simple, huh?

I train at my college’s rec center. So, we get a large amount of people coming in for the new year, then dances, then spring break, then summer. I never get a break from it for the next 5 months.

Yeah, that’s where I started with a Ted Williams cement set and it’s where I finished with a monolift, 2 ton of free wight, bars, power rack etc.

Actually, it is. I’m building one right now. It has its ups and downs. I mean, I won’t have the selection I would have at a regular gym, but I would save probably at least a half hour to an hour a day driving to and from, etc. I could even throw some chicken on a George Foreman between sets and have food ready right when I’m done.

I really don’t need much equipment anyway. Dual cable machine, squat rack, chin-up bar, dip station, leg press, leg extension/leg curl machine, smith machine, chest fly/reverse flye machine, some bars and dumbbell handles and weights are really all I need. Craigslist has been a lifesaver for me.

I use the gym at my apt and its way busier, will die off though, and its mostly poeple on the cardio floor or the “boxing” floor.

Was some hot chicks though which i am totally ok with.

Dude, today surprisingly was kinda busy. On a fucking Sunday. These people mean business here I guess.

I’m set up for deadlifts/rackpulls tomorrow. he he, loud noise, chalk and GASP grunting…

This should be interesting.

Hopefully there’s more eye candy in the gym.
I don’t think most new years resolution’ers fall into the category of eye candy.
WormwoodTheory wrote:
luckily they tend to stick to the cardio deck, which is a place I have no business being in this time of year.
I’m assuming that you mean you avoid any conditioning because you are “bulking” now? Bad idea.

Always do conditioning. Even if trying to add weight.

2-3 conditioning sessions a week shouldn’t hurt your mass gain at all. It will actually help because you will be able to eat more calories without them turning into fat. It keeps your metabolism moving and you’ll have more wind for when you lift.

Through high school i lifted with first plastic Ted Williams cement weights. After a year or two I got a steel bar and some more weights. I had a cheap bench then got a less cheap bench.

I learned how to take off the bar from the bench rack for squats. They weren’t heavy, but I wasn’t either. I could do curls, presses, benches, rows etc. When I went to college I used the school gym or commercial gym. I had more variety but had gym issues, so I started to get stuff when I had a place for stuff.

It is that easy.

I was doing deads yesterday. A guy watched me do a set, put 315 on the bar and proceded to do a half rep, droped the weight, limped away… I put the weights away for him… pretty sure he pulled a groin or messed his back up on that one…opps…
