It Vexes Me. I'm Terribly Vexed

I really like using some sort of chains for working overhead stability. Whether the weight is from the chains themselves, or from loading pins hooked onto the chains. Trying to stabilize against the swinging seems to work very well. Well, for me at least.[/quote]
There’s a guy at our gym who does this, and we kinda poke fun at him for it lol. Okay, okay maybe I’ll give it a go.

Standing DB Press:
40’s for 3 sets of 20

Average Band Pushdowns:
3 sets of 20

Pushups:
3 sets of 30

DB Lateral Raises:
15’s for 3 sets of 20

Just did this crap at home. I really need to cancel my thing at that little crap 24hr gym and get my membership back with the Rush.

Press:
45 10x
95 10x
135 5x
145 5x
155 3x
165 3x
175 2x
185 3x PR; pretty easy.

Still a loooooong way to go, but pressing is coming along at a good pace. I’m setting PR’s pretty often even given the fatigue level associated with daily frequency. So far, after only a couple weeks, operation press everyday appears to be a rousing success.

Squat:
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 1x
285 5x
285 5x
285 5x
285 5x
285 5x

High bar squats are coming along very nicely as well. Just increasing my 5x5 by 5lbs a week, and the sets are getting easier every time.

Incline DB Bench:
50’s 10x
75’s 12x
85’s 12x
95’s 14x PR I guess lol
95’s 12x

Did more grip nerd stuff than I care to mention after the main work…

I superset those two exercises. I had to be in and out in under an hour today; so just went as fast as I could and skipped accessories. It’s that time of year again. I’ve got 3 Easter gigs lined up, so I had to make a rehearsal this afternoon. I always get really, really pissed off that these people are taking me away from my exorbitant and unreasonable training schedule even though I agreed to their dates months in advance. They just don’t understand the sacrifice I’m making to play for them. That’s fuckin gains I’m giving up.

Btw here’s my squat PR from the meet:

Ammonia still stuck behind my ear after the lift. I forgot to use it lol.

I was racing Chia, and at first I was pulling away little by little, but then I failed super hard and he won by like 5 steps lol. I didn’t actually have the endurance for this so the last several steps were just me kinda faceplanting.

315 5x High bar PR
225 10x Long pause on last rep just for good measure

This is the most fun I’ve had training in a long ass time. Overhead and high bar squats are improving at a break neck pace. I demolished my chest, shoulders, and triceps just yesterday, and in that severe of a fatigued state I still hit an overhead PR. Feeling fast; weights moving easy on squats and overhead. Still got a LONG way to go on press before I have enough strength to compete with the other strongmen, but it’s definitely coming along.

Good job on the 2 plate overhead! Gonna catch up to me soon.

Awesome job with the overhead PR!

Thanks dudes!

215 1x pretty much… I locked this out, but I almost immediately lost my balance and dumped it behind me. That’s the stability issue I mentioned before. Should have 225 on this soon. The most I’d done before today was 195.

Fat Grip Chest Supported T-Bar Rows:
3 sets of 8-10

Fat Grip Pullups:
3 sets of 10

You mean calves actually do stuff???

I have a slight middle back strain from hyperextending on that 215 log press the other day. I stayed light on presses today.

Press:
45 10x
95 10x
135 10x
135 10x
135 10x

Squat:
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
275 1x
290 5x
290 5x
290 5x
290 5x
290 5x I even paused a few reps here and there just for fun.

My high bar squat is increasing at an increasing rate. My 275 5x5 a month ago was pretty tough and it has gotten 5lbs heavier and much easier each week. 290 today was an absolute joke. I’m holding myself back from just jumping up too quickly though. I’ll try and draw out these gains as long as possible and hopefully in another month and a half or so my high bar won’t be too far off from where my low bar was.

Bench Press:
45 10x
95 10x
135 10x
185 5x
225 5x
245 3x
265 3x
285 8x Ties PR
did some pause reps with 285 playing with form a little
235 12x

Haven’t done just regular bench in over a month I think. Just kinda playin around. Also budreiser’s strength levels are starting to piss me off, and I’ll be goddamned if I’m outlifted by someone lighter and younger than me. No offense  I better step it up though.

Incline Bench:
175 20x Yea that’s right.
135 about a million times? Pump action.

Shoulder Press Machine:
3 sets of millions

495 1x Sumo; PR on that I guess lol. I was just warming up normally and got to this weight and all the sudden Chia says, “Dude pull this sumo right now!” So I did. It was cuz one of our buddies had failed to do it sumo like yesterday and he was just about to walk in the gym, so I did it all casually like that’s what I was just planning to do lol.
495 1x
495 1x Trying to work on my conventional form.
455 5x Epic hitch on 5th rep.

Sumo felt weird and unsteady, but it was really easy lol. I may try it a little bit more just for fun. No point in really going sumo though since I’m going to do strongman.

Push Press:
185 3x

135 10x

3 rounds of 10 reps each with glute ham raise, ab wheel, and pullups

Chest Supported DB Rows:
70’s 15x
70’s 15x

Seems like there’s never enough time. It was already 9:00 at this point, and I still wanted to do 2 more upper back things and 3 biceps and a bunch of grip stuff. Too bad I have a job and can’t just train all day. Anyway deadlifting is going to be like this now. Way more volume and stiff leg work afterwards. I haven’t been training my deadlift hard enough.
