Beltless High Bar Pause Squats: this is as squat as you can get motherfucker
225 7x
225 7x
225 7x
225 7x
225 7x
Prowler:
12 pushes like always
Glute Ham Raise:
3 sets of 10
I haven’t been training my squat hard enough either. I need to do my volume with regular and then do equal volume paused at least. And also GHR every time. I should be doing front squats too, but fuck front squats.
18" Deadlift:
45 10x
45 10x

315 3x
405 3x
455 1x
495 1x
545 1x
585 1x
610 0x Damn I need to stop getting carried away with these. They weren’t even feeling good today. Hamstrings and lower back are torched from earlier this week.
495 3x
Log Push Press:
135 7x technically I still did overhead today…
Beltless Sumo Deadlift: Our buddy was doing these, so I just joined in. It looked really fun.
135 5x
225 1x
315 1x
365 1x
405 1x
455 1x
500 1x Sumo PR; overall beltless deadlift PR. I think the biggest beltless pull I’ve even ever done is 455… Sumo suddenly feels easy. I don’t know wtf to make of this revalation.
Farmer’s Walk:
300lbs per hand for about 4 feet
200lbs per hand for 3 runs down and back; I keep forgetting that this weight is too light. Chia and I were basically sprinting. I need to work with 250. 300 was way too fucking heavy though lol. Do me a favor Vinny, try it next time and see how far you can actually walk. I could hold it okay, but as soon as I tried to add any forward momentum it just dragged me down hard.

I’m out for a while with my injury, but I’ve taken 280/hand for 100 feet including a turn with a drop at halfway. And we are the select few (maybe?) that don’t fail on farmers cause of grip, but upper back and core fatigue! Yay!

Didnt you just switch to highbar squats ?[/quote]
Indeed I did! I didn’t expect the two to be related, but maybe my hips are getting more rest from not squatting low bar? Not sure.

Wasn’t a “proper” sumo dl (quad-dominant upright Russian style) but rather a conv. dl turned sumo dl. Not really here to piss on your parade, but I don’t think this style will be the way forward in the mid and long-term for you or anyone.

Considering that we were just messing around after heavy rack pulls and that this is only like the 2nd time Chris has ever pulled sumo, not to mention this is the first time he’s ever pulled 500 beltless and kept a much flatter back than he does pulling 455 conventional with a belt, I would say that after ironing out the technique, this very well could be the way forward for lifting the most weight by powerlifting rules.
Coan didn’t exactly do “proper” sumo deadlifts by your definition; guess that’s why he only got to 901.

I disagree, but I hope he proves me wrong. Using Ed to support your point is just silly (not the part about his form of course).

My point is that the “proper” type of deadlift, in the context of powerlifting, is what allows you to lift the most weight. Suggesting that sumo deadlifts must be done in the style of Malanichev or Belyaev is what’s silly.
Obviously this is not going to be the optimum techinque, but it’s like his 2nd time ever doing it. It’s a brand new exercise so only time and effort will allow us to know if it’s suitable. This lift did seem more biomechanically favorable compared to his conventional pulls with the same weight.
