It Vexes Me. I'm Terribly Vexed

Unfortunate update.

Operation adapt or die to asthma has resulted in die, or at least it was trying to. I was using albuterol like 15x a day and had a fever of 100.2 last night. And my sleep quality sucked cuz I kept waking up 3 times a night with breathing problems. I couldn’t really keep this up, so this morning I went to Walgreens and paid 340 fucking dollars for one med. I also had some prednisone from 2 years ago (the last time I got sick) which I popped and it helped almost immediately. Yesterday I felt like death, and today I feel like a million bucks.

I tried a few things that people have said would help, the most notable of which being diet. I’m really embarrassed to say… but I’ve basically been eating “paleo” for a few days. I’ve always thought it a hocus pocus hack diet, and I still do, but I’m a desperate man lol. I think the biggest problem is I stopped my med cold turkey (since I kind of had to) rather than tapering off. A few days of diet change isn’t enough to really tell anything. So I’m going to keep up with the diet and see if it might help over the long term and taper off of stuff when I can.

I need to make some serious adjustments to the diet though. I weighed 187.5lbs this morning. I haven’t been in the 180’s in probably 5 years or more. I’m losing way too fast. I looked at the calories of what I was eating, and it is like practically nothing lol (I think like less than 1500…). I can see now why bodybuilders eat 10x a day. So I need to get way more vigilant and find ways to get much more protein and calories. Because chicken, bananas, and sweet potatoes (which comprised 100% of my diet) have like no fucking calories. It was a lot easier back when I just ate McDonalds and chocolate and a half gallon of milk a day.

Do you use any supplements??

No milk? No beef?

As far as bang for your buck… butter, coconut oil (the better tasting stuff actually mixes well with green tea), sweetened condensed milk (if this is “allowed”, but it’s 1300 calories a can, and you can mix with strong black tea or strong coffee as an approximation of hong kong milk tea/vietnamese coffee). And high-fat ground beef mixed with spices (more surface area for the fat/oil to stick to). Lean ground beef with added “healthy” fat is probably a better idea though.

You’ve got around 120 calories per tablespoon of fat/oil.

I have an inconsistent appetite so that’s some of the stuff I end up going back to pretty regularly just to get the calories down.

As far as the buteyko stuff…

Good luck. Those meds are expensive. I’ve only got “exercise-induced asthma”, but recently get a refill. Prices went up a lot.

Just creatine monohydrate.

Well also vitamins. I take 4 fish oil, a multivitamin, 2000mg vitamin C, and 5000iu vitamin D.

That’s what I do instead of eating vegetables lol. That’s all vegetables are, micronutrients.

I’ve tried cutting out dairy along with grains to see if there is any effect. I need to keep at it at least a month or something just for science sake.

I don’t eat much beef, because chicken is cheaper lol. I go to this place called Brownbag in Knoxville and you can buy a massive pan of high quality, fully cooked, delicious chicken for 25 bucks. I buy one of those every 2 or 3 days essentially.

I was considering just eating some coconut oil out of the jar, but then I discovered that almonds are a thing. Almonds are nuts! They’ve got like 160 calories per ounce. I’ve eaten 1300 calories worth of almonds in the last like 15 minutes.

So the calorie conundrum is solved. Now all I need to do is figure out how to get more protein.

I vote beef. I get a pound of 80/20 for 4$. And rice. Then I fill in the gaps with McDonald’s

All that med shit’s free here in Canada, mabey I can play up the symtoms, and mail ya what you need, or somthing. It’s funny we bitch so much about high taxes here, but we take free medical system for granted. When I fell off that roof in 99, they air lifted me, spent 3 weeks in the hospital, meds and operations and shit. Then when it was all over I signed my name and left, my buddy from the State’s told me he would have lost his house if that had happen’d to him.

Anyway just a thought,

I made an appointment with my doctor. I’ll just talk with him and get on something cheaper that’s covered.

Fucking lol at that story though dude. Yeah medical bankruptcy here is no joke, and most people who go through it are actually insured.

I used to work with a guy who had to have surgery (I can’t remember what it was but I think it was heart related.) and was paying it off little by little over several years. I think the grand total was close to $70,000. I remember the day he payed it off, he was beaming. Then less than a year later he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
All that time sacrificing and doing the right thing by paying his dept then fucking colon cancer.
One hell of a nice guy too. He was insured.
There’s definitely room for improvement with our medical system.

SooOOOoo, you’re going to move to Canada then?

OMG YAY LET’S GO PLAY LASER TAG

85’s 10x
85’s 10x

5 rounds of circuit for cardio.

a few sets of decline situps for abs

I forgot to do biceps. Fuck.

My bodyweight has dropped precipitously. I lost like 10lbs in 3 days. Hope that was all water. Freaks me the fuck out regardless. In addition to my regular food intake yesterday I ate an entire pound of almonds in one sitting. The almonds alone are over 2500 calories. Maybe that will help.

Well I WAS feeling good about pulling 335 for 11 on my amrap set…lol

2/6/2014

Paused Bench Press:
45 10x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
275 2x
315 1x
add slingshot
365 miss; took this for granted. This felt like a joke last week and went up like lightning, and that was also paused. I’m not nearly 100% right now though, so I have to focus.
365 1x
remove slingshot
295 2x
295 2x
295 2x

I suppose I shouldn’t be disappointed overall with my performance, but this was a rough day. I am 10lbs lighter than I was last week, and I also have a full on sinus infection now. I had to concentrate very hard on my form or I would have missed things left and right. Everything felt so much harder than it should have.

Close Grip Paused Floor Press:
45 10x
135 10x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x
185 8x These feel fine on my shoulder. I needed more heavy triceps. I will do these now.

Olympic Guy Squats: (high bar, close stance, atg rather than the wide squatmorning which is my usual modus operandi)
45 5x
135 5x
185 5x
225 5x
225 5x
225 5x
225 5x
225 5x Aha, I finally found it! Even with such a light weight this actually hit my quads really well. I actually felt it in the part down around my knee for once rather than just in my hips. I had tried these in the past, but they felt very wrong on my right knee (which is a bit clicky). This time though I guess I found my groove, cuz they felt amazing. I want to do these like every day now.

I did some squats today, because I’m going to have to cut down to lifting only 5 days a week for a while. Work is getting really busy. So I’ll do light leg day after heavy bench day. And when I’m feeling well I’ll do a hell of a lot more shit than this, although 8x8 floor press was pretty cool.

315 paused:

365 slingshot paused:

295 x2 first set paused:

Being sick and lighter is taking its toll.
295 x2 second set paused:

295 x2 third set paused:

This was by far my best set with 295 today.
