Anyone have any experience with Illio-Tibial-Band-Friction-Syndrome (ITBFS)? I get it bad from squatting. It hurts from my hips down to below my knees on both legs on the lateral aspects. I have had it for a year and a half.

Who diagnosed you with ITB? Based on the limited info you provided about your symptoms, it doesn’t sound like any typical ITB case I’ve seen.
Most cases present as lateral knee pain, most common at heel strike or with walking on inclines/declines, and is most pronounced with the leg in approx. 30 deg flex.
You can get a generalized ache in the thigh as more sensitive fibrotic deposits develop.
If it is truly ITB, you would want to get myofascial release (active rel) on the ITB and more importantly on the TFL muscle, which tenses the band. ITB can be related to hamstring/quad tightness or weakness, gastroc tightness, excessive foot pronation. Trigger points in the glutes should also be checked.
Treatment should include:
Myofascial rel and Trigger point therapy (ITB,TFL, Glutes)minimum
Stretching (ITB, Glutes, Hip Rot.Hip ad/abduct Quads, Hams, Gastroc/Soleus)
Strengthening exer (quads/hams/hip ad/abd)
Sacroiliac and lumbar facet joints should be assessed and adjusted accordingly.
More info regarding symp. would be helpful.
If anyone knows of a good site with pictures of stretches, please post the link. I will do a search in the meantime.
What part of Tx are you in?
I initially was diagnosed about a year ago by an orthopedic surgeon. The leg pain is from more mid thigh down to the lateral lower knee. It used to hurt a lot when I squatted with a wide stance and pushed my knees outwards, thus creating pronation of the feet. Lunging and leg pressing hurts as well. Running and climbing stairs aggravate it. But the day after squatting really hits it.
My physical therapy friends also diagnosed it as such.

What kind of treatment have you done? What kind of warm-up routine do you do prior to leg day, and do you stretch and ice after leg workouts?
If you haven’t tried any of the treatments I listed in the previous post, definitely start.
I’m in Houston, I’ll have to check and see if I know any of the docs in your area that may be able to help you out.
