Israel’s most notorious newspaper ran a very interesting piece on Wednesday titled “Israel doesn’t want peace” where the author, Gideon Levy slams the Olmert government and some of its predecessors.
One question comes to mind: Why have I never heard any Arab claim that Arabs don’t want peace? Arabs are clearly more sectarized and split than Jews are, yet you’ll never hear a Western intelectual say that Israel is looking for peace (Alan Dershowitz don’t count because of the obvious bias). I only see two possible conclusions from that (one of which is absurd!):
The Israeli government indeed doesn’t want peace,
All Western intellectuals are anti-Semitic.
Also, if you have a small piece of land somewhere and are many many MANY times stronger than your neighbours, why would you be looking for peace? If anything, you’d welcome instability as a mean to expand your territory.

Because you are not listening.
According to Zinni and most others that have tried to negotiate an agreement between Israel and Palestine the Palestinian leadership does not want peace otherwise they would do the things necessary to get peace, such as disarm Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Both sides want victory. The powerful radical Arab elements want to eliminate Israel. Israel wants peace but they know peace will never last if they are not the strongest in the region.
There are only 2 possible ways to achieve peace.
Elimination of Israel
or
Elimination of Arab groups whose goal is to eliminate Israel
The authors credentials are shaky. He seemed to spend his career hating all things Israeli, in Israel no less. So, I think he is full of shit. I pretty damn sure if Israel’s neighbors were to leave them alone and acknowledge them as a sovereign country. There would be peace. I still say it’s high time we let Israel and the Palestinians duke it out. Who ever wins gets Jerusalem.

Agreed.
While I do sympathize with the Palestinians, and I don’t think that Israel has the complete moral good on their side in everything they do, for the most part it’s been the Palestinians who’ve been the overall aggressors.
Israel seems to want peace just fine. They just remember what it was like the last few times they tried to have peace.

“he is obviously biased”…
YOU are biased.
Camp David 2000-2001
Your logic is totally flawed when you end up on those “only two possible” conclusions.
Seriously lixy, try to find a subject where you aren’t 100% in love with one of the factions? Ok? This is just stupid.
