And, agreed. lifting to Miley Cyrus is the worst. Who picks the music at college gyms? Also, the ratio of treadmills to power racks should not be 12:1.

When I started back up, I joined Planet Fitness without looking into it.
How about a 50:0 ratio for power racks. Needless to say I ate the early termination fee and ran out the door.
1 power rack, 2 squat racks, 3 benches, 2 inclines, 1 decline, DB up to 160, 7 dumbbell benches, most adjustable, an assload of HS machines. Another floor for cardio, a separate room for bosu ball shit(thank god) and assisted lift thingys.
another floor for cables/freeweights/kettlebells/foam rolling.
Pretty sweet overall. there’s a few broskis at peak times (6-8pm) but most of em do the infamous circle jerk half reps around the cables for hours at a time.
Curl the stack with a 2 inch ROM. Flex in mirror. Jerk off to muscle milk. Repeat.

Dang, man… that really sucks. I guess I’ll be grateful for the lone power rack. Not like there’s a line to use it, anyway. Haha…
Mine is real HC. We don’t have heating, thereby there’s fuckin’ cold, we have concrete floor, no machines, cardio equipement, we use chalk, encourage each other, and so on…
my gym is pretty damn sweet(image fitness).we have had the last two Nabba mr.ireland clas 1’s. and there are six other mr irelands in different weight categories. also went to the chalk today and there was a big blood stain around it…awesome!

YMCA. There are a few big guys and some MMA guys. Not hardcore at all really. It works for now.[/quote]
I have to brag about this. Just saw a flier at my YMCA. They are redoing the weight room. They are adding 4 new power racks, a Glute Ham Raise, a Westside Grappler, a trap bar, a fat bar, a deadlift jack, a chalk bowl, the list goes on and on. And to make room they are getting rid of a bunch of machines that I never used.
I’ve been looking around for a new gym, but now I’m staying right where I am. Very excited.
I train at a relatively HC gym.

I feel for you on the MTV Base issue…dreadful!
One of my mates is from a place not too far from there, he’s a natty powerlifter, not sure if he ever trained at One2One though…but the name rings a bell!
Sounds miles better than Swansea Uni gym. That said, it’s not too bad once you get over the legions of clueless twats.
We have 10 power racks. 2 are reserved for lifters with a verified lift of more than 200kg/440lbs. Another 2 are for lifters with more than a 220kg/484lbs.
We are encouraged to wear bare feet.
Newbies are given the Smolov squat programme to see if they are committed.
One day I came in to the gym and the owner was welding on the gym floor.
I train in two gyms but one of them I would say is hardcore. It has a lot of plates, bars, a fat bar, almost no cardio, and a woman who loads the hack squat with 5 plates per side.
