Is YOUR Gym Hardcore?

I suppose the 24 that I train at is about as hardcore one of those types of establishments can get. On one hand, they don’t enforce the no-chalk rule. But on the other hand, they took away the 100 lb plates because guys were leaving them on the leg press and a lady complained.

Not in the least -lol. We do have a lot of wannabes, and ‘I think I’m so damn hardcore’ people though. Lots of sub 140 lb kids with the wife-beaters and knit-caps pulled down tight on their heads, as well as the bunch of 200+ lb fat-asses who strut around with their arms almost at 90 degree angles to their bodies cuz they’re so gawdamn hyooge (then we have to watch as their training partner upright rows all of 255 lbs off of their chest as they “benchpress”).

Equipment wise though, my gym was originally owned by a competitor who stocked things pretty well. When he sold it to a bunch of “businessmen” (some of the dumbest f-ckers I’ve ever met), most of the stuff was kept, but every new item purchased since has been a travesty. It’s always an argument with one of the owners to not get rid of the old equipment because the newer stuff is shinier.

Bottom line is that it’s all about convenience. The handful of guys I train with and respect all bust their asses, and would do so in any gym they could find, no matter what equipment was available. If some other place opened right next door (or even within a close distance), people would flee the gym like rats on a sinking ship.

S

Fitness 19. I and a few are serious, and the owner is cool with deadlifting and chalk.
Lol which Fitness 19? I used to belong to the one in in Clinton Twp. To fucking small, especially when you got the afternoon rush. Got crowded QUICK.

I’m currently at this Powerhouse gym (most in my area don’t even compare). Justin Harris comes in from time to time(trains once in great while there)

This metroflex gym in Plano, Texas loooks SICK - Steve Kuclo training

I’d say my gym is pretty hardcore.

We have 10 power racks. 2 are reserved for lifters with a verified lift of more than 200kg/440lbs. Another 2 are for lifters with more than a 220kg/484lbs.

We are encouraged to wear bare feet.

Newbies are given the Smolov squat programme to see if they are committed.

One day I came in to the gym and the owner was welding on the gym floor.
Thanks Augustus,

When things get broken fix em straight away.

Got to mention my gym, ProPerformance in Morgantown, WV. This is an awesome facility. If there’s a better gym anywhere else in the country I’d like to see it. Basically 2 gyms in one: a “fitness” area upstairs where the mainstream crowd works out, and then a hardcore weight-room downstairs with 4 Olympic platforms, 4 heavy-duty power racks, 2 glute-ham benches, 2 reverse hypers, and dumbells up to 180. Lots of powerlifters/strongmen/serious athletes work out here.

They also have an “explosion” room upstairs for polymetrics. Attached to the weight room is an indoor practice facility with strongman equipment on the side: torpedoes, sleds, a prowler, tires etc…

Check it out at properformancerx.com

I don’t pay attention to the members but my 24 hour fitness has 3 power racks and DBs in increments of 5 up to 155. Hammer-Strength machines all around, multiple machines for leg curls, leg extensions, and a good wharehouse feeling to it, which I really like. There are 2 big cargo doors near the power racks.

Seeing as my gym is currently aboard a fucking Navy boat, it pretty much sucks ass. No fucking squat rack, you heard! They chose a smith machine instead. Literally more treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes than anything else. Packed as fuck with “four bi days a week” douchebags and “I only go half way down on my bench press cause I’m trying to impress other fucking idiots who also have no idea what the fuck their doing” retards, oh and the “This guys can multitask! Deadlifting while spotting!” fuck heads.

I love it when I pause with 185 on my chest and dudes stare at me like I need help all wide eyed like I’m about to die, then the bar goes up with ease… fucking navy.

My gym in Ramadi was the shit though! We used dust for chalk and it was surrounded by barbed wire! Not to mention half the weights were Russian ones we aquired from Iraq. That place was built for strength. Chicks never entered “The Yard” cause they’d run the risk of getting raped and murdered and probably raped again, fucking grunts.

Anyone else feel like their best gym and most hardcore gym was in high school? My school was so broke, we got our equipment passed down to us by jails. We had three benches, two squat racks, dumbbells up to 220, military press stand, and two areas setup for deadlifts. I fucking miss that place!

my gym’s as hardcore as Labuff. I go to my university’s gym.
