Is This the Stretch Reflex?

When doing something like box squats, at the bottom of the movement, where part of your weight is on the box, is the stretch reflex overrided?

Or, another example would be deadlifts from the ground, where you complete undload the weight between reps, vs. not letting the weights touch the ground.

What is this called?

Does it have to do with the stretch reflex?

Also, im thinking of trying to use this principal to strengthen my sticking point in pullups.

Normally when doing weighted pullups, i start from a complete hang, and my limiting factor is definately the top portion of the movement.

Would it be a good idea, to use slightly less weight, and start standing on a bench, so that my arms are already near that weak angle. And then, i would deload between each rep.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, basically. Although you can still get a stretch reflex with the deadlift weights touching the ground if you come right back up. If you do pause squats holding the bottom for a few seconds you can essentially lose the stretch reflex.

Don’t see why you couldn’t do something like that with pullups. Pretty similar to a board press bench variation, I’d think.
