If atheism is a belief in nothingness, why do you need to advertise nothing?
It’s not about why, it’s about the right to be able to. Do you not care about Freedom of Speech?
I didn’t question their right to do it, I am wondering if atheism is a non-belief why advertise? I mean how do you advertise ‘nothingness’ if indeed that is what atheists believe?

Well even if you were able to see it you wouldn’t find it funny because there was no humor in it…That is unless of course you find things that lack humor as funny.
Second, it’s not even remotely offensive, so I don’t think you’d be offended either.

You’re an atheist of course it doesn’t CLEAR THE BAR. (eye roll)
Yeah, but if some one pissed on hitler, he’d be really ticked.
NO you implied hitler was an atheist here.
No ZEB implied that Orion is an atheist and indeed he is. I was implying that Orion would be offended if somebody pissed on a picture of hitler…I of course was intending to be a jab at orion, and not in any way speaking to hitler’s theism or atheism.
Yeah, if that’s as bad as it gets…watch out!
I didn’t label it hate speech the guy who posted the video did.
You asked for a situation where atheists are being mocked and so I provided them.
That was a mocking? k, but your easily offended if you think this guy, who I don’t even know thinks atheists are idiots.
Like I said if this is as bad as it gets, you really have nothing to fear. I mean you really, have to dig hard to make this point, which means it’s a very small one.
No mass murders, no starving of entire towns, no massacres of school children, etc. Just a dude on a talk show?..big whoop.

Just to clarify, I was referring to the first post/video. I can be crass and maybe improper while discussing with the theists here, but peeing on religioud symbols is not furthering any healthy debate.
Videos targeting atheists would be unlikely to offend me.

There are many people out there who are STUCK in religious circles and cannot get out because they would be considered outcasts by their friends and family if they told people they don’t believe. Signs like this allow people to know there ARE support groups out there for non-believers.
The question is, why do believers feel so threatened by a sign?
Yeah, if that’s as bad as it gets…watch out!
I’m not saying I have anything to fear, but shit like this give the atheist community a bad name and further perpetuates lies about atheist. It’s not that I care about what Steve Harvey thinks about atheism, but it’s impact on the general population’s beliefs of atheists when he says them on television.

Yeah, and when you implied Orion would be offended by pissing on a picture of Hitler, you did so right after Zeb implied Orion was an atheist. If you didn’t mean to speak on Hitler’s theism or atheism that’s fine, but that’s how I read it.
I may not have to worry about being murdered as an atheist, but in places where most people are religious, being openly atheist can actually hold you back from getting a job, being promoted, acceptance from your inlaws.
The host of a popular atheist public access show has been cut off from parts of his family because they see him as doing the work of the devil. So no my life is not in danger, but being openly atheist can have its consequences.

So?
All kinds of folks “suffer” in this manner as a result of their chosen religion. And atheism, is…drum roll…just another religion.
So be proud and honored that you can be persecuted for your beliefs. That was Paul’s message to believers in Roman times.
Atheism is not another religion.
Let me ask you something, can you tell me which of these groups has NOT had a US senator elected at any point?
Christian
Catholic
Jewish
Atheist/secular
Hindu
Muslim
When you figure out the answer maybe you’ll better understand why I care about how atheists are portrayed in the media.

Well I have never been in an interview where my faith has come up. I don’t stand on my stoop at work and proclaim anything about my faith. I’d venture to say most people there don’t know if I am a theist or not, whether I go to church or not.
If you are boldly proclaiming your atheism to anyone that will listen, I would reckon your going to ruffle a few feathers in as much as if I did the same regarding Christianity. Perhaps you shouldn’t talk so much?
Or you can lobby for minority status and see if you can special rights and considerations. It all sounds silly to me.

Uh so? Maybe there hasn’t been a atheist candidate worth voting for? Who has ran that was openly discriminated against because he was atheist?
Christianity gets a lot more bad press that atheism ever did. A couple of local yocals does not resounding bad press, if you cannot withstand a report from “Action News” then you’re already in deep shit.

Oh but it is. In fact, atheists are more “religious”, i.e., faithfully devoted and especially strident, than most religious folks.
And let me ask you a question, why dost thou give a fuck? You’re Canadian, aren’t you? It seems you should be more interested in the representation in the Parliament in Ottawa, no?
I mean really…why would a Canadian atheist have to spend time unwadding the panties in the crack of his ass over whether or not the UNITED STATES Senate contained members who deny the existence of Almighty God? Shouldn’t you be dwelling on when French Canadians will begin a fresh secessionist campaign or how to get the Canadian dollar to lose some value so Canuckland can export more of its products to the (mostly) theist USA?
It’s basically the same fucking situation here, this is a board full of Americans, it only makes sense to discuss the United States.

?
Is that what you think I’m talking about? blathering on about religion during an interview or trying to preach non-belief in the office?
No. Does your boss know that you’re a Catholic? The fact that someone in a position of authority KNOWS you are an atheist can hold you back even if you do not talk about it but people simply know.

Really that’s what you think? 16% of the US is atheists/non-secular.
