Is Kinesiology a Bogus Major?

Most college is a waste of money. You are out of the work force for 4 years and pay, what, $20k a year?

The list of financially-worthwhile degrees is limited: accounting, engineering, a limited number of science degrees, various other business and finance degrees.

Plus, I would have another particle physicist to talk to on here. That would be pretty neat. Also, T-Nation would probably be the only bodybuilding site with multiple particle physicists posting regularly!

Yeah, but try telling that to all the literature majors who are going to write the next Harry Potter, or the art majors who are going to become the next Van Gogh. And as far as science degrees, physics and computer science are really the only ones you will consistently see the majority making 6 figures or more, the rest are hit or miss and depend on one’s concentration within the field, but usually still have better salaries then the average liberal arts major.

In this thread I really want opinions. This is not not meant to be a loaded question. I have been lurking here on T-Nation for a long time and I feel that lots of people here think that formal education in KINESIOLOGY or EXERCISE SCIENCE is unnecessary or bullshit when it comes to getting big and buff.
(do not beat me up, I understand how important the hard sciences Bio, Chem, and Anatomy and Physiology are)[/quote]

Why do you need a degree to get big and buff? DO like what all the writers and followers do. Load up on Testosterone and stack it with other roids. TO hell with those bullshit supplements they sell.

Here is my bogus degree list:

Psychology- Degree of crazy bitches everywhere
History- Who cares about this shit
Sociology- Total junk
women’s studies? WTF is this shit?
General studies
Anthropology- Ooooh you saw gorillas in the mist once?
Art
music

I’m on the fence with exercise science and kinesiology

A kinesiology degree is my stepping stool for med school where i plan to progress into cardiology. So i wouldnt say it’s a useless degree…not like philosophy. Love the subject, but if you major in it, pretty much the only route is to become a philosophy teacher.

I’m a particle physicist when no one’s observing me.

im going with the plan that i can make enough money studying mathematics that ill be able to pay someone to do everything PT related for me easily, rather than go to school just for that. Plus math is ill.

Was that deliberate? If so, well done!

I would remove this one from the list. If it wasn’t for crazy psych bitches who needed tutoring in physics because it was a degree requirement for them I would never have have gotten laid in college/grad school.

Lets think of it in different terms. On its own, what is a kin degree worth?

If you did not use kin as a stepping stone into a grad school of some sort, what would a person with kin degree be doing?

Also, in the US there is no actual degree requirement to get into med school. You can get in with a philosophy degree as long as you have the required bio, chem, physics, and organic chem courses and fulfill all the other requirements like the MCAT and such.

Yep.

My sister’s roomates in dental school didn’t come from natural science backgrounds. Her one roommate had a degree in history and the other in economics.

ha! I hate a liberal arts education, so many bullshit classes.

Did you tutor them and fuck right after?

I agree with this for the most part. I also have a degree in sport science, and whilst I found the subject matter interesting and I had a good time on the course I would not recommend someone do it unless you want to be a teacher or something similar.

Most degrees do not have a good enough return on your investment (both time and money) If I was doing it over again I would have studied one of the degrees mentioned above.

I would usually fuck them before spending my time tutoring them just in case they wanted to flake out and blow me off (and not in the good way). A lot of girls would lead guys on so they would help them with their classes but then completely blow them off once they got what they wanted. They would give BS excuses like “I just have to find the right time to leave my boyfriend” or “I just got out of a relationship and am not ready to start another one” or some such BS and when the end of the semester came around they would never speak to the guy that tutored her again. I wasn’t going to let that happen to me. Always get payment up front.

You’re bogus!

If someone has a talent for a specific area, the passion to pursue it, and the drive to follow through to a career, who are we to knock that?

If I had read your list and took it to heart back when I graduated High School, I wouldn’t be a successful artist now.

My point to the OP is: if you have the passion and talent for something, go for it.

Coolest qualification ever:
