hello all; I have been reading here for 5 months now, what a great site. ok the other day me and my bud were taking and the question that came up was does it matter how many cal. are in each six meals a day . Yes a ton just before bed is bad how many cals. are a ton. Can you have more at breakfast, then smaller get by snacks, or is every meal roughly the same So what are all of your thoughts on this. thanks
I always eat more calories at breakfast. As far as the “snacks” are concerned…I would recommend that they include around about the same protein content as do your other meals.
A good rule is to eat according to what you’re going to do (activity wise) in the next 3 hours or until the next meal. Also the post workout meal is very critical.
The brunt of my calories are consumed around breakfast/lunch and as the day progresses I eat less and less. When prepping for a contest I do not eat past 6 or 7pm. And I don’t cut calories- I just eat more earlier in the day.
Yeah, and the meal post workout is important.
i consume 25% of protein at breakfast with carbs and 25% pre-sleep with omega-3 fats with flax seed oil. 12.5% during training with simple carbs. That leaves 37.5% spread around the rest of day including other ratios of my macronutrients. I try to eat every 3 hours usually due to hunger setting in. Now if you consider that a typical day is 16 hours long then it fits in pretty nice. I must mention that i consider protein shakes as meals so that’s how i’m able to consume that much protein within a certain time period. I like the conveniance of the shakes. I would find it difficult to consume that many quality calories if it were all from solid meals. laters pk
A ton? Well bread has 2,400,000 calories per ton. Butter about 5,760,000 calories. Water packed tuna, 960,000 calories. (Ok, k-cal.)
I am dieting right now, and am consuming about 2000 calories per day plus or minus 150 depending on what I eat throughout the day. I make sure no meal I consume contains more then 400 calories, and I eat about every 2 ½ - 3 hours for a total of 6 meals. I try to evenly distribute my calories most of the day, and my last meal is a protein shake (Grow) and 5 fish oil caps for 160 calories before hitting the bed.
This has worked pretty good for me as I just hit my 28th day and dropped 13 ½ pounds of fat and haven’t lost any LBM. Plus my first week I tried to ease into this diet and lost only 1 ½ pounds, so it has been 12 pounds in the last 3 weeks.
