Is Creatine Dangerous to Take?

No.

I know a couple of people who have been hospitalized after taking creatine. One guy was loading up on creatine and his kidneys failed. Probably overdosed!?!?!?
Other guy collapsed in front of a club while waiting inline to get in. The cause of that was creatine, doctors say.
I myself tried to use creatine and followed the proper dosage but I had pimples and rashes all over my body after three months of use. I also noticed that my erections weren’t as strong while on creatine. I went to see my doctor and was told to stop taking creatine because it’s not good for the body. After I stopped taking creatine my body returned to perfect health.
I believe Creatine has long term health effects which you will notice later in life if not now.
Sounds more like ketamine…

Three wrestlers who reportedly died from taking creatine later retracted their statements? I’m more interested in learning how they did that than whether or nor creatine is good for you or not…

The statement was retracted by the newspapers that released the story. School let out early today, huh? That was the reason for the “…”. To seperate the statement. I will be sure to add a few Mickey Mouse photos in future statements to point out the important parts.

Since there is so much ignorance flying around on the thread, this little bit got overlooked.

rockhard, the suggestion that there is an ulterior motive on this site to promote creatine while sweeping the “known” negative effects under the rug, is offensive. You are saying that we are both ignorant and underhanded.

Also, do not make generalizations about where we get our information. The whole point of this site is that there are people who can directly read and translate the scientific literature for those who can not.

I have a moral obligation to report the facts, whether they be positive or negative. I have done both in the past and stand by this reputation.

I appreciate a healthy skepticism, but keeping a closed mind to new ideas is almost as bad as the believing the ads in every bodybuilding magazine.

You may be right in that there are negative side effects that have yet to come to light. But the overwhelming body of science directly contrasts this idea.

Stick around for a bit and you’ll learn what this site is all about.

Cheers

Ok, im done playing Devil’s Advocate…

Anim8 here are some studied dones that support the use of creatine as a supplement with one being under some fairly strenuous activities. This should hopefully ease your concerns, taking into account you didnt just post this to start a flame war.

worst post ever!

Lets just ban creatine already.

Let’s just stop making stupid comments already.
You missed the point to my post…

I was mocking the anti creatine movement amongst trainers and the media today.

Let me ask you all this…

Do you know who the father of creatine is? If so, you also know that creatine was used by the Russians the year they kicked everyone’s butts in the Olympics. Yes, creatine is safe. Nikolai Volkov (Russian) is the father of creatine. He is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry at the Moscow Institute of Physical Education researcher in the areas of Muscular Activity, and a consultant to the Russian Olympic Teams.

He uses every measure imaginable to insure that creatine is safe. Creatine monohydrate is an anabolic and energy maximizing ingredient. It is safe, and if there is a study out there that says it’s not, show me. Better yet, convince me that Olympic athletes could indulge or would indulge in anything that would interfere with their performance before, during or after. Then I’ll take it to my friend Nikolai and ask him personally.

im 15 yrs old and my friend took kreatin and now he always has kreatin-rage and one of his ballz hangs lower than the other. plus, my health teachr, mr. mackey sayz “kreatine is bad, mmmmkay”. my dad readz sports illustrated too, and it sayz kreatine sux because it killz athletes. so stay away from kreatine (and efedra too)

I can’t believe this thread is for real.

Bahahaha. PCH, you crack me up!

However, maybe the beginner forum, with all kinds of newbies that don’t actually know any better, isn’t the best place for this kind of humor?

We’re going to need another whole series of myth articles after the latest series of food and creatine conspiracy theories… sigh.

So to sum up what everyone’s saying.

 1. creatine is safe to take, as long as you use it intelligently

 2. There are a lot of dumb rumors both for and against creatine. So don’t believe everything you hear.

 3. Creatine won’t kill you unless you are stupid when taking it. I.e. not drinking enough water etc

Also there are a few people saying that you can be allergic to creatine. That’s total BS. Creatine is naturally in your body and you’re just adding more by taking the supplement (most of us probably already know this). You can be allergic to something else in the powder though, but having a creatine allergy is fiction. Unless someone can get me empirical evidence to contradict this, that is.

So dude, if you want to take creatine, do it. And if you don’t, then don’t. It’s safe, and can be effective when you use it right. O, if you keep getting pimples and the like from taking it, then try a different (better quality) brand. Otherwise keep lifting, and have a good time with it.

creatine will make your ballz fall off and shrivel first then you won’t be able to m8 with girls

I thought God was the father of creatine.

This thread sucks ass. That summary sucked ass too. Those jokes sucked ass.

Creatine isn’t the worst offender. Protein is the real problem.

I know this one guy, and he had a tuna casserole, and the next day his kidneys exploded. And this other guy went from being Vegan to eating meat and his body started to get these strange bumps, and he could start lifting his pencil three times a day. He must have had some weird steroid growth disease.

And one time when I had a steak my tongue shrivelled up and my penis fell off.

Didn’t he become a pro wrestler with WWE in the mid to late 80s. He teamed up with the Iron Sheik for a bit there I believe. I know times were tough for Soviet scientists near the fall of communism, but come on…

Correct! No one is the “father of creatine”. That’s like saying “I invented meat”. Just because he was able to get it into a powder form doesn’t mean he invented it.

This is going to turn into a Spitz thread.
