Is COC Enough?

Are you getting enough COC in your diet?

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

My weakest point in my deadlift is my grip.

I have to do something about it, so I just bought my first set of COC grippers, and one added resistance thing that you can add to the gripper.

My question is, is this enough to add a significant amount of strength to one’s static gripping strength?

I read a couple articles about improving grip strength, but to be honest, they seem a bit too elaborate, and boring.

I know I need grip work, but don’t want to spend all that time working on it.

I’m willing to spend a lot of time using the grippers though, and I’m willing to buy stronger grippers or more resistance bands as my grip improves.

Has anyone had success with building their grip strength with COC grippers alone?

Please say yes, since that’s the answer I’m looking for, but I guess I’ll accept other answers telling me I’m a lazy bastard who should just suck it up and train my grip in other ways…

COC grippers can certainly help, but the best way for improving your grip for deadlifting is to work supporting grip. Do this with things like timed holds, plate pinches, hanging from a bar with lots of weight attached, etc. Just small things you can throw in at the end of a workout using standard gym equipment.

But use the grippers too. They’re the cornerstone of developing a good grip, IMO. Do negatives with a gripper harder than you can close (cheat it closed with two hands and do a neg. with one hand for a 5 count), and do overcrushes with an easy gripper (squeeze it as hard as you possibly can for a count of 5-10). Those two approaches to grippers have helped me more than anything else.
