Is Cereal Good for Breakfast?

Ok, i live in the dorms at a university and its hard to get healthy food along with food high in protein. I was wondering if wheates and cheerio’s is ok for breakfast along with a protein shake and bananna. In the cafeteria, its chineese food and dougnuts so that wont do.Im mainly trying to bulk so im trying to eat high protein foods.

Wheaties and cheerios are not high protein foods. You’d be better off with Chinese food and doughnuts.

Actually that sounds pretty good.

You want high protein and high calorie foods to bulk.

Skip the cereal and go for the oatmeal. Original flavor if possible. The flavored stuff has too much sugar in it.

What I would do for chinese food for breakfast haha. Get some oats like suggested or at least a high fiber cereal and get a good 50+ gram protein shake to go with it.

I had this expensive cereal once that is basically just oatmeal on a more expensive level. Oatmeal is just so cheap and really one of the best quick options I have in the morning-would love to add eggs but just throw in small shake and oatmeal and I’m done within few min-

Pass on the wheaties, but if it’s the original cheerios and not the honey sweet stuff, you can get away with it, but it’s deff. better if you go with unflavored oatmeal.

Ok Ill just eat 5 packets of oatmeal, i forgot to mention that i have that also. Ill add another scoop of protein to equal 55 grams. Thanks

ok oatmeal is obviously good but if you have the right kind of cereal it can be just as good or better for you depending on your goals.

For instance, right now I am trying to do the whole body-comp transformation thing (I know it sacrifices both goals of fat loss and muscle gain but what the hell). For breakfast I have Kellogs All-Bran extra fiber…20 grams carbs per serving, 13 of which are fiber. I mix it into cottage cheese and have a protein shake along with it…

I was thinking of changing up my morning rutine because now I am just waking up eating a banana on the way to the gym (its only 2 mins from home) bringing a protine shake and drink that while I work out.

I eat 4 eggs (2/4 yolk/white ratio) when I get back in like 1 1/2 hours.

I was thinking of adding a bowl of oatmeal at the end too with a half scoop of protien powder as a topping.

Whats the take on this?

rolled oats, milk, peanut butter, microwave, eat.

Ezekiel cereal is great…a little on the expensive side though.

Not that I’m an expert, but I like what the Nutrional Facts on Kashi cereal. Both “Go Lean” and “Crunch” have over 10g of protein with whole grains. I have a bowl of that with skim milk (another 8-10g of protein), a Metabolic Drive/Grow! shake (40-50 g), and if I have time, I’ll make some eggs and whole grain toast.

What school do you go to? Who doesn’t have eggs in the cafeteria for breakfast? Or is your first class everyday at 3pm and your breakfast is at noon? Not hating you for it, just jealous that phase of my life is over.

He’s trying to bulk, why are people recommending stuff like ezikiel, all bran, and kashi? It’s great to fill you up and loose weight, but to grow? Come on people . .

most kashi stuff, in my opinion, is like a laxative anyway.

Fuck it, throw some frozen burgers on the George Forman in the morning then. Go nuts.

Agreed- I wouldn’t think of using ‘bulking’ and ‘healthy’ in the same sentence

That’s a blanket statement. Just because most people think all-you-can-eat pizza, burgers, and fries doesn’t mean you can’t take in the extra thousands of calories you need by eating healthy. Sure it’s more work, but definitely possible.

Now on a university dining plan… you’re probably right.
