Iron in the Blood

unnassisted, yes. Great form, not. I jump from a step for the much needed boost, pull myself up somewhat, drop half-way down and drag myself up again. It’s a tragedy of a pullup but pretty much all I can do for now. I still haven’t got the bands. Not sure if they would help or hinder at this point.

The bands give you the same sort of boost as the jumping. Personally, I’d get a band and switch a band assist with the jumping assist. For a little asssit, I got this band for cheap:

A pair of #1 mini bands for US $18.00. I thought it was worth it.

95lbs - FUCK YEAH! PR!!!
3 x 1 - started with little plates. Moved to the 25lbs plates on the second set (looked awesome). Failed initial clean on third set. Refused to end this with a fail. Cleaned it and had to try 3 times before I got the press on the third run. Very happy with this.

That is really badass. When I fail, that is usually always IT for me. Not you though!

hell yeah on the clean n presses!!! killin it!

On most of my lifts I actually stop when I starting failing. Especially if I’m hauling overhead. Only I’ve been trying to get this for months and I needed to walk away with a victory so that when I face the bar next week I will be in a space in my head where I can say - I’ve lifted this sucker 3 times. I can do it again.

Pretty sweet:) You should have seen the look on my face when some idiot walked really close to me and I had that weight in the air. Mr. Dumbass needed to walk those exact 5 steps and stare at himself in the mirror and walk back to his bench in order to “know” he had done the exact resting period between sets. If I had dropped the loaded bar on him he would have needed more than 30 seconds of rest. Man some people have no clue.

saturday night’s social meal:

Took a walk in the neighborhood with the husband. Stopped at a little italian place with great antipasto and home-made pasta. Ordered a bottle of private import wine and enjoyed each other’s company. We forget to do that sometimes after 10 years. After supper we crossed the street to have cappucinos and split a brownie at a local coffee shop where a band was jamming. I love my neighborhood.

this sounds dreamy! did you get the angry pasta? mmmmmmm

the clams were decent in a pinch- i was thinking more like a soup…clam curry chowder but only cauliflower in it.

uh, BOOYAAAAAAAH! on that C&P. damn. that is some serious shit. way to go, especially pushing that last one out. great workout all around!

Super clean and press! Is that from a hang clean position or an Oly clean from the floor. Would love to clean and press that much. I always feel cool doing those . . .

That’s what I usually take but I decided to try something new. The husband had Salsiccia Peperonata Piccante and I had the Melanzane e Caciocavallo. The antipasto was a mix of grilled veg and italian cheeses. All of it was fantastic.

I get the clams in a soup - sounds better than a stir fry:)

Oly clean from the floor Snap. When I mention reps those are only for the press portion. If the temperature up here can get warmer someday I’ll head to the gym wearing something better than my jogging pants and have someone take my picture with the weight above my head. Should look awesome:)

Excellent clean and press. Especially great job being tenacious. I will remember you next time I want to give up after one failed attempt at something. Sometimes all it takes is determination and will power. Your body is strong enough, you just have to make it perform.

Also, I admire your dietary habits. I am still shedding some holiday weight right now, and its very supportive to see your clean and reasonable diet. Way to exercise self control and keep yourself healthy and happy as a way of life.

Thanks owlie  By the way I’m keeping up to date on your log - curious to know how that intensive squatting program will work for you. That might be my fall/winter game. As for moving stubborn weight I always give it a try (now if I could be this stubborn with pullups). I’ve been working on that 95lbs since fall.

For the food I find that having a kitchen (including the freezer) filled with good proteins and fats makes the process easier. I don’t have to think too much.
a. choose protein
b. carb or fat
c. flavour

When I keep to this system I find the weekend social meals all that more delicious! Plus I get used to eating small meals so my stomach feels fuller quickly during those social meals. Funny the stomach seems to find plenty of room for wine though…

Yes please on the vid!

Great training. Btw, what is EFX cardio?
