My youth teams begin their games this week. I want to inspire them towards greatness the night prior. What films do you highly recommend? And I prefer something that ends on a high note if possible.
Chariots of Fire
Rocky II
you want to inspire your “youth team” to greatness?? thought “youth teams” were supposed to be about haveing fun and learning. just a thought and please this is not a rip I just think too many “coaches” of young kids take this shit waaaaaayy to serious. peace
Try vision quest(wrestling movie)
Rocky 3 (yeah too many made but lots of lines to encourage, and he struggles to win)
Remember the Titans
youngblood(hockey, but fun)
Only the strong(pretty violent at times ? based on a true story?)
Gladiator( great for those who can visualize their opponent as “caesar” and themselves as not holding back anything) sure stirs the emotions. kinda long though
give those a try.
Rocky
Rocky2
rocky3
rocky4
rocky5
in no particular order
Driven is also good
also some sporting documentaries are good
when we were kings is awesome
Rocky anything is great. I love the Rocky movies. If one comes on i stop what im doing and watch it. Rocky III is the best movie of all time.
how about the orginal delta force with chuck norris, that’s what i’d like to do to those bastards
well since it is youth, i won’t be reccomending the program as i usually would for motivational movies. I think after this week’s events, rocky 4 would be great.
No offense taken Heytey225, I understand what you meant. However I coach boys at an age where part of the game does require a considerable degree of desire to achieve. I believe in the saying that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Unfortunatley the majority of young persons I see out their are complacent and lake any desire to take themselves to a higher degree. In the same respect I have a problem with schools taking away valevictoian awards as they believe such awards place too much stress on the students. America was built on the spirit of competition and the pursuit of greatness. But then again I don’t think you understand this as you seem to always have negative responces to anything anyone has to say.

Only the Strong…or maybe Slap Shot. OLD TIME HOCKEY!!!
What happened to “Rudy”, especially for a group of young kids? I guess some people think its inspirational, some think it shows obsession…I think the former…
Hoosiers is my fav…
I had a strength coach who recorded some of our workouts during the offseason, and then made a highlight film. It was really inspirational to watch it before a game showing all of our hardwork and sacrifice. But with youth there are obvious restrictions.
Rudy, Hoosiers, and Vision Quest are all very inspirational sports films. I can’t believe that no one has mentioned Remember The Titans yet, though. That movie is the bomb.
Thank you Mufasa (glad to hear you’re alright). Definately Rudy, a very inspiring film that should bring about a sense of hard work and pride in the youngsters.
My favorite genre!! Rudy definitely is on the list, any Rocky, Remember the Titans (though the real triumph was over prejudice), October Sky, Gladiator, The Patriot, Without Limits (the story of Steve Prefontaine, though it does end at his death), Vision Quest, Saving Private Ryan (though this one didn’t necessarily have a positive ending, it did ask some very probing questions), Stand and Deliver. That’s just some that come to mind now. I’m sure I’ll come up with more.
Remember the Titan’s
has all the great stuff a motivational film needs, hardcore renegade style training, passion, perfection in the game ,team strength, the forming of solid community values ,based on a true story and ends on a very high note.
