I thought we had this thread already, but I searched for it, and couldnt find it. If anyone else can, feel free to post it and end this thread.
Anyway, I have to analyze a sports movie for my sports psychology class.
What are some good ones?

There’s one you don’t hear much. I loved that movie back in the day. Haven’t seen it in a number of years.
Agree with many of the above.
ADD:
“The Lou Gehrig Story”
“Cinderella Man” (Russell Crowe)
Mufasa
Some additional thoughts:
“Field of Dreams” is a MUST! It’s emotional and historical impact does NOT diminish with time…
How could I forget:
“ALI!” (Will Smith)
“Seabuiscuit”
Mufasa
Many of the above but recently;
Coach Carter (Samuel L. Jackson) and the one about the first all black starter team from West Texas to win the NCAA basketball championship back in the 60’s (but I can’t remember the name of the movie).
DD is right:
“Glory Road” is ANOTHER great choice…
Mufasa
I like that movie about the underdog team that achieved victory in the face of adversity.
But really, Rocky 4 is the best option.
come on! its all about SPACE JAMS!
jordan + looney tunes = hollywood gold
rember the titans
varsiity blues
basketball diaries
cinderella man
invincible
ali
friday night lights
ad nauseum ad infinitum…
Chariots of Fire is a classic.
Friday Night Lights
Invincible
Bull Durham
Field of Dreams
Hoosiers
and…
Over the Top

I second this. Some great movies have been mentioned, but much of what you see in Slap Shot is really the way it us (was) in a hockey club: the talk/scenes on road trips, talk in “the room”, shooting the shit, bars, right down to the lonely wife of the player who hates the shit hole town her husband plays in.
It’s not glamorous, or glitzy. The script writer really captured hockey culture (well if you look past the fact that it’s still fiction).
