but whatever. i guess im just hating lol
Yeah, you are…and you sound like the rest of gen-youtube. You are more concerned with things many of us would have considered pure gossip when we started lifting.

As a newb, I ran up to a guy who had competed in NPC contests regularly and asked how long he had been training.

He said, “6 years” as he stood there at 260lbs with veins showing everywhere. I lost my mind thinking he had really done all of that in only 6 years.

Then I kept lifting…and got bigger…and got to the point that people would randomly ask me questions about training all day.

My answers have ranged from; “I don’t train at all…genetics”…to …“only on Jewish Holidays”.

I became friends with that competitor later and learned how he had really trained.

I guess my point is, grow up a little. No one owes you a biography with lie detector results.
When you make a channel trying to help others what good are you doing when you’re bullshiting half of the shit you say. There’s a difference between that NPC guy . You were probably being an annoyance to the guy when you asked him where as this guy goes out of his way to make videos to spew out bullshit.

LOL I think one time he recommended 4000 plus calories and that it didnt matter where it came from for a newbie? that’s doing more harm than good .

You are the one to talk though about drama. You bring none of that to this forum .

Just a heads up…but anyone with a chance in hell of having genetics to get that big…will probably need that 4,000cals a few times to do it.

I really think this comes down to guys with lesser genetics getting pissed because of what they can’t do.

If it isn’t, then please explain how you don’t understand that about BIG calories and BIG muscles.

They sort of go together.

I know I sure as hell have eaten more than that at times.

NO offense, but unless he is offering a service and lying about that service, he isn’t any more dishonest than an actor in a movie.

Living where I do, I’ve trained at Bev Francis’s gym in Syosset on many occasions over the years. For those who don’t know, this is unofficially called the “East Coast Mecca”, as it’s filled on a daily basis with IFBB Pros, National level NPC competitors, Photographers from various muscle mags, and is run by Bev (Former Ms International and should have been Ms Olympia IMO) and her husband Steve (Top IFBB Official, Judge, Promoter, Powerlifter…) Anyway, it’s a damn inspiring place to be, very well equipped, and lots of people who truly know what the deal is in terms of every aspect of the sport.

A couple of years ago, I was in there the week after winning a contest. I had filled out a good amount from enjoying myself a bit, but was still damn tight, with veins running everywhere. As I was hanging around the front desk waiting for a friend, one of the gym employees asked if I competed. Feeling all proud, I told him I had won 2 Pro Cards in different Natural Feds (even mentioning the WNBF because I figured everyone knows that one -lol). You may want to make another thread for that.

Bodybuilding doesn’t pay unless you win a top spot.

I have a career. Most of those guys you see on stage on the pro level work as personal trainers or something minor on the side…and most only have a career of about 5 good years before they get passed over.

I would rather have the lifestyle I want along with the muscle. My goal was to be the best me I could be. Remember, I was that kid who everyone said wouldn’t ever be big.

I think I proved that wrong already.

How do you value yourself when you purposely mislead people whose money keeps your business afloat?

And the whole they don’t want to hear the truth thing is nonsense. Go to any crappy commercial gym and there are tonnes of people trying to do squats and deadlifts and lining up at the squat rack to do their wendler squat day.

I mean its your choice to have integrity or not but out right lying to some young kid and taking his hard earned money and telling him you got big doing pec decs and abductor machine circuits puts you in rarified asshole atmosphere.
AnytimeJake wrote:

Absolutely, and I for one applaud guys like you that start that kind of gym. Now because guys like you can afford to keep that gym open, I have somewhere to lift. On top of that I love the people that pay their dues and never show up as well, because that means the squat rack is always open.

Even if you are bs’ing them by giving them circuit routines or whatever you’re still doing them the favor of showing them how to have a routine and stick to it. It’s not yours, mine, or anybody but that individual’s problem if they aren’t interested enough to do research and find somewhere like this site to really learn the ropes of what will get them where they really want to be. Right. A guy who is self employed in a highly paid profession with virtually complete control over his schedule and time management cant do it, but everybody else is just making excuses and Hatin’.

THEN it becomes an endeavor of self actualization.

Now I get it.

Suppose some guys on juice are telling us to “work harder”, let’s not forget that steroids allow you to work much harder simply because your recovery is out of this world. I have talked with a former pro who said the same thing after he got off the stuff. I asked him why he had stopped lifting and he said natural training is boring after being on gear. His muscles take a full week to recover instead of 48 hours and the pump, energy and endurance just isn’t there.

That is one reason I don’t want to use. I would never want to come down from the high of those kind of workouts and having that much energy. I imagine you feel like Superman.

Ouch!

Probably one of my bigger defects and would easily shut down any inroads if I had them is my inability to respond well or constructively to criticism.

That has to be a big factor in the success of anybody who takes up BBing.

You miss the point, and unless you owned a gym it’s hard to understand, I spend all day training young kids that have desire for free, but the boatloads of yuppies that flow through every week. There’s no helping them, they know it all, they’ve spent years watching informercials, and what not, so I give them the machine circuit, and send them on they’re way. The back half of the gym is all heavy iron, and they can watch me train young athlete’s. There’s a dozen trainer’s free-lancing out of my place, and they’re happy to take theses people’s money, 3 sessions a week where nobody breaks a sweat.

I had a picture in my mind when I opened the gym, then reality struck. Nobody wants to work, they all want a magic routine, or a magic pill, so I don’t waste time with them, I just take they’re money and tell them they’re right. Then I spend my time doing everything I can to help the next generation, get them hooked on squatting and basic’s. Get them to have belief in themselves, that they can do anything with enough time and effort.

I have parents brining me in thank you cards, for changing they’re kids. they join my gym, and end up with a whole new outlook on life - Anything is possible with enough time and effort. Unlike the above post, I still believe you can set your goals on being and astronaut, or president, if your 18yr and have a solid 20yr plan, and your willing to put the work in. I guess I’m the niave one

I wasted the first 32yrs of my life with gangs and violance, and now I’m sober, and on a straight path. I’ve found a way to steer the next generation, atleast some of them in another direction, and make bank while I’m doing it. So ya, it may seem like I’m ripping off some know it all yuppies, but they just want to be able to tell they’re friends that they belong to a gym, or better yet, a gym owned by a big angry ex con.

There’s a dinner party story, well it costs them 40$ a month, until they get up the courage to come into my ofice, and give me some lame excuse why they have to cancel they’re banking info  Then I usually tell them they’re not working hard enough, so they stick around for another couple years, hahah, it’s all about the kids, and these smucks can afford it anyway.

In the end everyone wins, and I’m not out there doing armed robberies, I’m helping people. LOL, Lighten up, we only get one go round, why waste it worrying about what other people are doing.

LOL to be fair that sounds better and different than how you originally framed it. You made it sound like you tell all the people who come in to use machines and get big and strong doing circuits.

Also I am curious what gangs were you in? Do you have a big giant swastika on your chest derek vineyard style and thats why you have your back on the pic?

All I know is your pictures radiates alpha power top. If I was your cell mate I would totally be open to things.

I don’t disagree that the right thing to do is tell the kids the truth, however, as Anytime stated most people don’t want to hear that in order to lift 500 lbs and be ripped up like Rambo it’s gonna take them years and years of grueling hard work and quite possibly some drugs to get there. They want to do a Curves circuit and go home feeling like they are special. tbh, they probably are improving just doing something over nothing even if they aren’t going to become the next Arnold. If you tell people how hard accomplishing something really is, most of the time they’ll quit.

I have faith that if guys like Anytime or Prof X can tell someone is genuinely interested in getting better and doing the work, they’ll tell them the truth but if some dope comes up wanting to know how many curls it takes to look like Ronnie Coleman in the next year they might as well just tell them to do 3 sets of 10 on the machines because even at that they probably won’t follow through.

People shouldn’t limit themselves by assuming they can’t be a competitive bodybuilder just because they have a career.
