Injury.....

I do not know where to post this, so here it is…

I was doing Romanian deadlifts, a light weight, when I pulled something.

I believed I pulled one of these muscles, the internal abdominal oblique (lateral division) or the transversus abdominis or the quadratus lumborum. All I know is that is hurts and I need to heal very soon to continue my workouts.

Any intelligent suggestions?

Oh, I have NO insurance and NO money to go to a doc or a physical therapist.

I hope it’s just a pull, as that will heal in weeks 9or maybe months) if treated well. Meaning, don’t use it much, except to keep it a little limber. Another possibility is that you have gotten a hernia, which is a connective tissue issue that you pretty much have to fix. Without insurance, your only option might be the ER, which would suck all the way around. But it would probably be better than any other option.

Are you thin enough that you can see some stomach definition? If so, look (and feel) for any sort of lump or protrusion in your abdomen where it hurts. It is possible to have a hernia and not have this kind of symptom, but if you have this kind of symptom it is probably a hernia. Either way, break out Google and ask questions on WebMD and the like.

If it is just a muscle then you’ll be lucky. If it is something more serious like a disk herniation it’ll put you out for a while without proper care. It could also be just a disk bulge. Try doing bridges on all sides (front, sides, back) for 30 seconds each, 2 times through. Also try stretching the muscles around the area. Do ab work like Janda sit-ups (look them up on youtube) and side crunches. When you start to feel better, start doing light exercises.

@humanjhawkins, babe put your hands on you hips, where your left thumb lands, but a tad lower, is where the pain is. And yes,I will go to WebMD, thank you.

@cartman, thank you, I am going to youtube now!
