Increasing 20 Minute Muscle

Hi Coach,

Love the program, last week I had little time to train, so I utilized the method and loved it. I am thinking of moving away from my current training (Wendlers 531) and using the 20 minute workout. This week I have a little more time to train so I wanted to tailor it just slightly to include what I wanted.

I have been using High-pulls in my training a lot and have loved them, so I was thinking of adding them onto the end of workout A (Deadlifts and press) with the same format.

I know in the comments section where you posted the workout you said to do squats before deadlifts if you wanted to include them, which I do and will include them there.

I have also thought about including 3x5 bodyweight pull ups at the end of workout A and 3x5 bodyweight dips at the end of workout B. Haven’t tried it yet, and I am thinking it might be a bit too much.

I know it’s getting away from the 20 minute workout but my work week is always differnt, sometimes I have plenty of time, sometimes I struggle to get 20 minutes. When I use Wendlers 531, on the weeks I don’t have much time I would utilize the ‘Jack shit’ assistance program (basically only doing 1 lift in the session and leaving), and I felt like I wasn’t getting enough out of it.

So when I have plenty of time I will use the increased workout (with high pulls, pull ups and squats, dips) and when I have limited time I will just use the program you outlined. Would that be recommended by you or do you suggest something else?

Cheers

Squat before bench, not deadlift
my increased plan currently looks like this

Workout A (Mon, Wed, Fri)
Deadlift - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
Press - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
High Pulls - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
Pull ups - sets of 5 until I can’t get 5 in a set (usually around 5 sets)

Workout B (Tue, Thur, Sat)
Squat - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
Bench - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
Row - 5x80% 1x90% 1x92% AMRAPx60%
Dips - sets of 5 until I can’t get 5 in a set (usually around 5 sets)

Any changes you’d make?
