that gym looks great. Do you dip fast to get that stretch reflex? I’ve tried it, but usually end up with my hips too high, which are often high without the dip.

Not solely. It’s mainly for minimal attachment to the bar.
makes sense, thanks
Great press ![]()

Just an observation. I looked at the bottom of the picture, but no luck.

I still don’t understand. There’s clearly one there.

You need special shades to see it.

I can’t start from my chest.[/quote]
I have the same problem. Do you have any issues with hand placement on the back squat?
One thing’s for sure, wherever you wind up working, you’re bound to be the strongest engineer there!

I can’t really call it a problem. That’s just where my shelf is. It means I have a lot of potential left for thickness.
LOL. No, I don’t. My technique on my squat is actually very individualized. Working back to where it was. I grip the bar close and rotate my elbows forward.
I thought maybe it was a shoulder mobility issue, hence the question about squats.
I’ll have to post a vid of my OHP in my log, you and I have the exact same range of motion…though you might be just a bit stronger than me. ![]()
Anyway, sorry about the hijack.
Ok, serious now. You look pretty quick off the chest and through the sticking point of the press, but definitely slow down toward lockout. Have you considered using chains to work on that? I used chains for a few weeks when I was working on BTN presses, and they made a huge difference in improving the force curve toward the lockout.
Obviously you press nearly twice as much as I do, but I don’t think that makes the approach any less valid.

If that link doesn’t take you directly to the photo, it’s about 5 posts from the bottom of Page 4 of my log, with a description of the chains and cost a few posts before that.

I’ve always been slower towards lockout on my pressing. I’ll consider it. I know part of the issue is neglecting my back followed by forearms and triceps. Along with technical mistakes. I’ll give it a go. Possibly today.

There is some mobility involved, but most of it is due to my structure. I grip the bar pretty close.
I tried out your idea, LoRez.
I worked up to 295x5 on close grip bench. I’ll keep going up 10lbs a week. My right shoulder is holding me back progressively less.
Following that, I tried strict press with chains. Bar weight is 165 (squat bar) and total resistance at the top is approximately 215. Did three singles. I’ll keep it around.
Did clean shrugs from the pins. Worked up to 363 for sets of 5.
Tried some pullups with six chains draped around my neck (close to 150lbs). Couldn’t do it lol. Cutting off circulation big time. I’ve done it before. Just a lot harder this time.
May have just been piled too high on my neck. Did like 25-30 afterwards with just bodyweight.
Some side raises and stuff.
Looks like you have the same kind of gravity I do. Hopefully those work well for you.
And lol @ the static image in your video. It looks like you’re hanging yourself with the chains.
