IMK66's Strongman Log

Long story short, began a strongman training log leading up to a contest in Hudson Valley on April 16th under the handle @IAM. Had that account since I was 14; figured it was time now for a new one. Considering the results of the Strongman contest, I also figured it was time to get serious about how I trained.

Contacted @Alpha, who’s written a badass 12-week conjugate program tailored to my strengths and weaknesses for which I can’t thank him enough.

I plan on spending these months getting stronger overall; if a contest comes up again near the end of this cycle, I may do it. Nationals in a few years would be sick, and so would a 1500lb total at 181. Day 1 was yesterday. So it begins.

Notes: Brutal. I love SSB squats, but 25 Kettlebell swings in between those heavy sets is no fuckin joke. This may be because my “explosiveness” is lagging – was never taught triple extension by any means. The circuit was also something else. Legs feel heavy as hell today, so I’m gonna say I did it right. Reverse hypers may be my new favorite assistance work.
