Getting Strong Now - a Strongman's Journey

After talking with a friend, I decided to make an online log to help keep me honest with my training.
Currently, I am 6’2, 300lbs at about 28% body fat. I am a competitive strongman, with my next contest date being September 27. My goals are to get leaner will getting stronger than ever.

My excuses:
I work 0400-1200. Getting up and 0300 leaves me tired all the time.
I have an son. While my wife is great and will take over duties so I can train, I need to do my part as well, just being a part of his life.

My gym:
I train in my basement for the most part. I have the basics - bench and rack with ~700lbs of weight. I have a sled as well, and tomorrow I will have a Texas power bar on order. I also have a few heavy dumbbells.

I also train in a private gym, warehouse style, except it is in a basement under a sex shop and coffee shop. (They are two different stores.) This is where the strongman training happens, as well as powerlifting style. We have the racks, benches, plates galore and a couple of machines. This is where my training group, Hyperforce, trains and where I make the most gains. I can only get there Thursday nights and Saturday mornings due to my work schedule.

My schedule :

Monday (Sometimes Sunday)
Bench: 3X8, 4X6,6X4 or 8X3 (I will stick with one scheme until I fail, then move to the next and carry on)
Incline Bench: 3X5
Either board work or close grip.

Tuesday
I alternate workout A and workout B week to week
Workout A:
Deadlifts,
Rows,
Quick Bicep curls

Workout B
Squats,
SLDL,
Rows
Curls

Thursday:
Overhead press
Front Squat
Close grip or sling shot work (depends on what I did Monday)

Curls

Saturday:
This is event day. Normally start with an over head press, a carry atlas stones or a deadlift and then some conditioning work with a sled of prowler.

Bench: (Pause) 335
Squat: 535 no wraps, 585 wraps
Deadlift: 585, 500X8

Now that my story is there, lets get to making some fucking muscle.

Well, today’s training was shit.

Lat pull downs: 8,6

Saturday was event training

Log press: 2x3x224. All reps felt fast and easy.

Saturday: Events day
Log Press: 220X1, 250X1, 270X0. Going to work on the reps at 250.
