I'm SO Tired

I have been so tired lately and can’t figure out why. I’ve been getting 6-7 hrs of sleep a night, just like always, and still have craved sleep. Is there particular foods or supplements that would help? I’ve been drinking Red Bull during the day just to stay awake during classes.

It would be better to find out why you’re tired and then fix it. Don’t just take stimulants and hope for the best. Overtraining maybe? Stress? Oh, and Red Bull sucks as a stimulant as least compared to two tabs of MD6 or similiar.

Well, no wonder! You’re doing two things wrong, but you think BOTH things are what you should be doing. If you’ve ready any fitness information at all–including T-mag–you’ll know that 9 hours is best, 8 hours is minimum, and less than that promotes higher cortisol levels. You’d also know that drinking a high caffeine, high carb drink like Red Bull is a double-NO. Caffeine impairs insulin sensitivity anyway, and add a ton of useless junk carbs to that and you’re flooding your blood in insulin, causing a rapid drop in blood sugar. The result of all this is lethargy.

Lots of reasons that you could be tired, which should be taken care of as was already mentioned. Some of them include: training hard may increase your sleep needs, 6-7 hours is kind of on the low side. I need 6.5 to 7 hours when I’m taking time off, more like 8 to 8.5 when I’m training hard. The one that I had the hardest time coming to grips with is the idea of a regular sleep schedule. As a college student, some days don’t start until 11 am while others start at 7 am. After a long time with a messy schedule, I decided just to get up at 7 EVERY weekday, and it worked wonders. Also you could be depressed, although you would probably already know that, but often it makes you sleepy all the time.

i think your fatigue could come from improper nutrition…the food you eat the job you work and everyday life stresses…try to get at least 8 hrs sleep at night, the analyze the things that you eat if you do eat well,is it consistantly?if not check out some of the diets in t-mag and extra sleep and you will be well on your way to a revived feeling

Hey man, I hope it’s not sleep apnea. I was recently diagnosed with it and I’m not overweight. I get tired a lot because I don’t get good sleep. I don’t want to scare you, but I’m mentioning this because I feel the same way you do. How I get 7 hours of sleep, but still, I crave more of it. I went to a sleep clinic and the doctors told me this problem I have is due to an underdeveloped mandible, and because of that, I choke at night.

Take a multi vitamin every day and a B-12 on the side. Make sure you are eating enough as well. Believe it or not stress is the one thing that can make you tired all the time no matter how much sleep you get so think about that. The vitamins will help and you should take them anyway.

Merlin, how old are you? If you’re in high school, or even college, you could be in the middle of a growth spurt. In high school, I would go months at a time where all I’d wanna do is sleep. It would always correlate with me going through a growth spurt. Also, you can’t take a stimulant without cycling it. I wouldn’t take it for more than 2 weeks at a time. Then you need to take a few weeks off to let your body recover.

Man, with that level of sleep I’d be dying too. Learn to use the greatness of the nap. Even 20 minutes would be great. I get 5.5 per night and take 2 20 minute cat naps.
