Did anyone else notice that Jay Cutler had a considerably more % of bodyfat and still won?
I mean, Ronnie was considerably more vascular and defined yet did not win.
All Ron vs Jay comments aside, do you think this is a move by the IFBB to promote a healthier look / less dieuretics?

I really doubt it.
Honestly, I look at the line up from Cutler #1 to Alves #15 and I have no clue what the judging criteria is, or what moves the IFBB are making. Mass? Symmetry? Narrow waists? Aesthetics? Ripped and dry? The top 15 are not placed in any kind of sane order along any of those criteria.
IMO in the few pics I saw Jay was actually more cut than Ronnie Legs mainly the quads and glutes were much more striated etc. May just be me and the few shots I saw.
Im using the routine videos posted on youtube as references.
A few things to notice.
Ron’s midsection is very noticeable. I know every superheavy weight bbr has a gut when they move or walk a certain way, but when you watch the videos, Ron’s stomache is THERE in alot more shots than it should be.
Yes, i think Jay had better legs, but rons sheer vascularity was insane. Not sure if that meant greater conditioning or not, but I was personally hoping that they would go more about symetry, aestetics and build over who can drop to 2% bf.
Here are the reference videos.

Personally I think the IFBB is about 60% looks and 40% politics.
The Real Story… (my version)…
The IFBB needed a new look, they are recognising that the overall public are not supporting 300+ wieght body builders because of the over all freakish nature the bodies start to get when they are over 260.
So, they also need to recognize what Jay has done for the sport. At the end of the day, its about marketing and imo, its a hella lot easier marketing Jay as Mr O than it is to marketing Ronnie. NOthing to do with anything but the fact that it was time for a change.
So, they award Jay the Mr O and appeal to the millions of white americans that they have not appealed to over the last 8 years (entirely no offence meant by this either). Its a matter of diversifying your marketing material to meet your market.
Next…
They also need to clean up the sport, no more freaks but more cleaner lines, nicer appeal and bring the sport into the realm of most people’s expectation.
Hense, Victor placing third.
IMO, once you remove the politics, the real winner of the O was Victor.
Extreme Aesthetics.
Great mid-section.
Great tone and symetry.
But, because of the politics, they needed to get places one and two out of the picture.
I am hoping the 2007 Mr O will be a new IFBB champ that actually has defined abs and proper symetry.
