Has anybody on here tried Ian King’s awesome abs program? How did it work for ya’? I’ve been wondering because a lot of the movements seem pretty unconventional.
Also, I did the first workout of part 1 through twice (each time a superset) and felt a little burn but only in the very sides of the muscle (from the side raises and side and leg raises). I’m not sure if I’m doing some of these right, particularly the thin tummies and seated thin tummies. Has anybody used these exercises effectively? The program says you’re lower abs should be contracted, with your upper abs non-contracted, but I wasn’t able to contract my lower abs without contracting the uppers as well. I’d feel a lot better if I were getting sore from these. Thanks for any help.
I am going through the whole Awesome Abs regime. Currently I’m about to start part 4. I’ve been doing 3 weeks for each stage, 4 workouts per week total (2x2).
For certain, it hits not only your abs but your entire mid-section.
I definitely feel tighter through the middle.
I’m not sure about the upper/lower abs stuff. Thin tummies require you to try to pull your belly button to your spine. Don’t tense or contract your abs - you will contract the surface muscles.
Pull the belly button to the spine as you lay on your back. Other interior muscles will activate. Its hard to ‘feel’ them for a while but they are doing their work if your tummy sinks into your body.
Hey thanks for the info. I tried what you said and it worked a lot better.
Keep practicing the thin-tummy. I thought it was impossible at first but you do eventually get it. If you reread the article, Ian tells you to use your hands as feedback - this is important. It doesn’t feel like you’re contracting your abs at first, but eventually you learn to separate the upper and lower.
