I Wonder What Arnold Did...

…after the 1975 Olympia. He had announced his retirement. So what did he do in terms of training I wonder? When he got back to CA from South Africa, did he just go back to Gold’s as usual? Of course no more need for the juice. I wonder how he adjusted his training. It must have been weird for him to not have to focus on prepping for yet another Olympia. Just something I’ve wondered about.

I would imagine he started looking for career opportunities in the movie industry. He probably still worked out but with less intensity/weight. He was still built and muscular when he was on film but less built than 75, this is of course excluding 1980 (he had to be beast show for Conan). There’s an interview on the net where he said he actually had to get smaller for the movies because he was too big. I doubt he stopped juicing though, maybe less, but I doubt he stopped.

Hmnn I’m not sure what his weight was for movies other than Terminator 2 (he said somewhere that he was 220 for that). His contest weight was about 240,… but he look so much bigger in Hercules in New York (obviously smooth, off season, but damn he’s huge)

I’m sure he didn’t go anywhere below 220, because he looked damn huge onscreen in most of his appearances at the time (except for the odd photo you can find where he seems to have lost a good deal of muscle). Still, I wonder how much he was even concerned with coming off gear for certain periods. Was he even knowledgable about PCT or any of the stuff that 16 year olf kids seem to know all about these days?

He dropped to like 209 I think for the movie with Sally Field, forget the name. I doubt he went off the juice though. Back then, why would you? It was just another supplement really.

I’m sure he still trained pretty hard though. Obviously not as hard but he has always trained. I remember reading how he always found time to train when he was making movies and how on his breaks when he was filming batman he would workout. The guy has one hell of a work ethic.

PCT did not exist in his day

You didn’t do PCT. You tapered down and then bridged with another AAS.

Now I remember Franco having gyno in like 1980 or something.

I would have assumed he began training for his movie roles, to either get in, or stay in shape for them.
