I just look at the most basic message that a person is trying to convey, and the old “I have a friend…” is kind of an overly defensive statement before an offense (rejection) can occur (at least how I read it).

A guy at work came at me with similar spiel. My response was and will always be “Thats good. We should all hook up for a good lifting session. When do you think we can do that?”.

Works like a charm. Instead of them experiencing the rejection that they are anticipating, they are fully enmeshed into the situation. Last place someone who is defensive to the point of offense wants to be is where they are actually accepted by the person that they are acting defensively towards.

Still have yet to meet the mysterious bodybuilder- former seal- marine recon- delta force- krav maga master.

assuming we still care, atleast a little bit…

The twit chose to take a negative approach to the OP. When he could’ve had a little admiration. OR, a third option, say nothing at all(easy and everyones happy). 2 out of the 3 choices are cool, one isn’t.

I’m not gonna lie, If I see someone who’s bigger than me (or worse yet my size, more of a competitive feeling) I have an immediate feeling of insecurity (probably natural, or im just fucked in the head) for 1-2 seconds, then I remind myself that hey, this guy does the same type of stuff I like to do he’s just been doing it for longer and is better at it then me, maybe we could be friends and he could teach me a thing or two (I’m quick to strike up conversations and ask questions).

I’d probably say my piece then go post on T-Nation. The punk displayed his low-quality personality and it’s a common trait that deserves to be discussed, so here we are. Just your run of the mill everyday jealous/insecure/one-upsmanship. The OP was maybe just a little curious as to how others deal with it.

The twit chose to take a negative approach to the OP. When he could’ve had a little admiration. OR, a third option, say nothing at all(easy and everyones happy). 2 out of the 3 choices are cool, one isn’t.

I’m not gonna lie, If I see someone who’s bigger than me (or worse yet my size, more of a competitive feeling) I have an immediate feeling of insecurity (probably natural, or im just fucked in the head) for 1-2 seconds, then I remind myself that hey, this guy does the same type of stuff I like to do he’s just been doing it for longer and is better at it then me, maybe we could be friends and he could teach me a thing or two (I’m quick to strike up conversations and ask questions).

I’d probably say my piece then go post on T-Nation. The punk displayed his low-quality personality and it’s a common trait that deserves to be discussed, so here we are. Just your run of the mill everyday jealous/insecure/one-upsmanship. The OP was maybe just a little curious as to how others deal with it.

You got issues. For the second time, I don’t have personal issues with him. He has a fantastic physique.
