Let mefirst say that I’m not disparaging your thread; it’s a good idea…it just made me think about a post I saw on facebook of an amputee missing his legs that did a whole bunch of pull ups and there was some line under it about WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE?
It made me chuckle because the guy would have it easier when doing pull ups come to think of it. Sure it’s rude of me, but that’s what came to mind.

Just think how many handstand pushups he could do . . .
And to actually contribute to this thread, here’s this:
Some people give him a hard time for having a strong religious faith. I don’t get those people.
I saw something on facebook about a guy in a wheelchair playing the piano.
I mean come on…that’s just stupid. Yes, indeed…if a guy in a wheelchair can overcome that and play piano then there’s hope for us all!

The idea is that many disabled (& normal) people just wallow in self-pity and don’t try to overcome their limitations. We make excuses to not go the gym and get fat and unhealthy. That amputee didn’t.

What about the foot pedals?
Maybe Nards misread it and he actually plays the Keyboard, or the guy uses telekinesis.

I dunno…maybe that’s why buddy linked to it on facebook; the guy overcame adveristy and used the foot pedals. Fuck do I know about pianos? heh heh
I don’t get the obsession with guys that lift a ton of weight. You win at life because you dedicate all your time to lifting weights? Yeah, no.
It’s impressive, and I have respect for guys that do it to a high degree, but it’s fucking laughable these dumb posts about “Dis guy lift heavy weight wow he so strong willed”. Unless you’re a single mom working two jobs and putting yourself through college, chances are what you’re doing doesn’t take that much will power. A lot of this shit comes down to whether you have the passion for it or not. People who are passionate about what they do will excel, regardless of what it is.
puts flame suit on
no flames from me. i get it. much like a baseball or basketball player - these are dudes doing what they love to do.
some of my work colleagues ask me, I don’t know how you have the discipline to eat healthy and go to the gym 5-6 days a week. It’s easy for those of us who love this shit. The gym is my favorite part of every day.
I’ll never quite get folks who check off the gym as a task complete.
The reason I enjoy these vids because they are highlights centering around some of my favorite stuff!!!

Except unlike a professional athlete most of these guys are not making enough money doing this to supplement their needed income. It’s honorable and all, and trust me I truely think it’s bad ass to be able to lift mountains, but I dissagree with parts of the message.
The idea that you can do whatevr you want in life, and should only follow your dreams is for children. At some point you get to the age where you have to do what’s needed to survive. And for most folks that doesn’t consist of spending (x)hours in the gym, because muscles only make money for some people.

That’s fine, though it’s one thing to be passionate about something, but it’s another where you correlate all sorts of positive and rare characteristics like “bravery” or “incredible commitment” because some dude lifts a lot of weight.

Amnesiac amputees never know what they lost.

You will see the same exact themes across every hobby. The passion/struggle/enjoyment/blah blah blah associated with these pursuits is pretty universal.
These are two of my favorite videos on youtube Cyrus, I posted them on my log before.
