I figure I may as well come here and hopefully get some helpful advice.
I’d still call myself a beginner powerlifter experiencing my first plateau. One of the reasons for my plateau is that when I get close to my max deadlift I faint. Faintness starts when I attempt about 85% of my max and stops me from doing more than 1 rep at that weight. It going from needing to take a knee after a completed lift to fainting completely at my last meet when attempting a 2.5 Kg PB (I failed it). Other movements such as squats and deads I don’t get issues with.
I understand it’s a natural reaction and the body’s response to the high internal pressure caused by the lift but my concern is that as a beginner my max and the weight that triggers this is not that high. It’s also reproducible and not a one-off I could attribute to a bad day, diet or dehydration as most posts about this I’ve read seem to.
My blood pressure gets checked regularly and has always been fine.
I’m completely fine with going to see a doctor but my worry is as usual most basic doctors have no clue regarding sports and possible injuries and impacts. So if I should be getting it checked, is there any questions I should be asking? Or would seeing another type of person be a better option?
Any advice is appreciated.
