I hate Squats Club

OG, that is awesome! The 47 rep part, not the cramp part. The cramp part just flat out sucks!
When you hit the 50, and you obviously will, you should get some lesser man at the gym (take your pick, it will be pretty much any of the ones you see) to time you. I would love to know how long you spend under the bar.
Besides, after 50 reps, I don’t know that you will have the energy, or presence of mind, to note the end time.

All the respect in the world…

Goatzilla,is it just me or do you get nervous before a high rep squat workout? And do you collapse on the floor immediately after the set and lie there breathing like crazy desperately trying to get your belt off so you can get more air?

47 is damn fine work. You are the squat king now.

Pretty sure my heart would explode.

“someone came over and asked if I was alright” Of course, I always scream and clutch my calf when I’m feeling fine!! Duh!!

Amazing stuff, Goat. Some years back, I tried 20 rep squats and was just flattened by them. Sadly, didn’t get results from them, but sounds like you’re coming along great. Just think . . . any day now you’ll be squatting your age in years! (50, right?)

That sucks OG! So close. Still a man sized effort. That calf is going to remind you all week about how much you hate squats. So 2 more weeks? Is that until the program is done? If so are you going to run another cycle or switch to another program?
So pissed but it is what it is so we try again friday…Just 2 more sessions in the program so I should be done Monday. Definitely doing something else. Even Dan recommends getting away from the high reps squats to let your hips relax and heal…still have to figure what I am going to do though…Honestly, I doubt I will ever do this program again, I think its good I have had gains but it might be a bit much for me…maybe high rep squats once a week would be more in line with my ability to recover…Today was still sore and tight from Sat…so I think more time between the squat portions and I might fare better…Still all in all…2 thumbs up for the program…love the ladders…2,3,5 is an interesting approach…
Can’t blame you for switching, hell most guys wouldn’t have started much less completed a full cycle like this. You going to try the 135x10min squat challenge? If there is any time to try now would be it.

Big Man I will do it with a stop watch on Friday and report back…and thanks for the support and encouragement

ECO, right there with ya, get nervous like “am I going to die” and when I am done I have perfected flopping around like a fish trying to get my belt off and hoping that this is all a bad dream…wake up you dumb goat!!

Joe- Thanks but that crown is ECO’s…did you see what he is high repping?

Git- Thats exactly how it feels… for about 3 hours afterwards!! Goats are stupid…Did I ever mention I hate squats?

Dday- I am going to ignore any post that mentions 135x10 min squats…ok, gotta go goggle it and see…I may have choice words for you later ( kidding)

Cav- it was horrible I thought I was going to make it to 50…ANd now my calf is letting me know how dumb I can be…and the problem is I am 51…I really fear that last rep!! But OP said I had to do it so the quest will not end until 51 goes down…even if it is with 135…

And thanks to all for pushing me along while I pretend that I am a “LIFTER”!! When I finish next week, I try write some coherent thoughts on the program from all the notes I have and maybe something in there will help one of you…you all have certainly helped me!

Are you going to do a PR attempt after this routine? (after a few days rest of course)

I’d be interested to see if it’s gone up.

I think you should do German Volume Training next, as a deload!!

Yup, My plan is finish Monday take thru Thursday off other than foam/stretch/mob and super light “bar only” stuff… take three days of some speed work and than max on squats, incline BP and Millies. haven’t done millies in 6 weeks so I am interested to see if there is any carryover from the one arm presses…Dan says you should shoot for One arm presses at 50% BW…I’m 20 lbs shy of that, but I have a BW MP…go figure.

I will report back with he results… I know Incline is up the question will be how much and I am going to guess 25lbs. Squats we shall see…

peace

Goat - Now I feel really bad. I’m amazed by your 47 and fricken calf cramp is brutal.
Tell you what, next week is deload for me, so I’ll go with 135 (BW weight diff aside) and see what I can crank out in your honor.

That is classic…and oh so true!

NEVER NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!

WINNERS NEVER QUIT AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN!

I say those to myself when I am in the middle of something difficult.

My last stress test (god awful) all I kept repeating was “Defeat and Retreat are not in my Creed”

You will do this

Fischer-Thanks brother, I read ( and apply) your comments in others logs all time!! I think you have forgotten more about lifting than I will ever know…and love the Defeat and Retreat quote…Friday for Fifty One…

OG - you are kinda crazy.
I think I like that.

nice work in here- I am tempted to try that Dan John program

Kevin- Thank you! the program isnt that bad; its hard but it definitely got my ass back in gear…

refresh Day

Usual warmup

Than a big rolling set for 20 minutes of going from thing tp thing…rack pulls to 315, MPs bar only, one arm BB curls, Z press ( I didn’t want Strick to have all the fun by himself), squats bar only, incline paused reps 135, OH squats, rev curls, Z presses again, one arm curls again, neutral chins 7, bat wings 20s, dips 12, goblets with 35’s swings with 35, done!

So I experimented with Z presses and One arm BB curls… a little concerned with low back compression sitting on the floor with weight overhead, one arm curls gave me an instant pump…and the goat don’t pump!! Damn Mrs Goat is still asleep no one to show off to as I don’t think the dogs really care…

Tomorrow is Day 13 my final shot at 50 /135…more later…

Peace…

weight : 180 I am a massive man… he laughs as he braces himself against a 10mph gust of wind!!

Go get some OG!

Nice work!

I had a similar “issue” with the Z presses. Instead of putting my legs out, straight and together, I put them out at slight angles. It took some of the side to side out of it, but seemed to lessen the pressure on my back. Just a thought.
