I hate Squats Club

Remember the tv show “That’s Incredible” from the '70s? One of the things they showed was a bodybuilder in his 70s who squatted a giant dumbbell for the same reps as his age. The thing weighted about a ton, but he only moved about half an inch and pushed with his hands as well. A few of the young bodybuilders from the local gym tried it and couldn’t get past 5 reps.

Show those whippersnappers how it’s done, Goat!

Kevin- Thank you! the program isnt that bad; its hard but it definitely got my ass back in gear…

refresh Day

Usual warmup

Than a big rolling set for 20 minutes of going from thing tp thing…rack pulls to 315, MPs bar only, one arm BB curls, Z press ( I didn’t want Strick to have all the fun by himself), squats bar only, incline paused reps 135, OH squats, rev curls, Z presses again, one arm curls again, neutral chins 7, bat wings 20s, dips 12, goblets with 35’s swings with 35, done!

So I experimented with Z presses and One arm BB curls… a little concerned with low back compression sitting on the floor with weight overhead, one arm curls gave me an instant pump…and the goat don’t pump!! Damn Mrs Goat is still asleep no one to show off to as I don’t think the dogs really care…

Tomorrow is Day 13 my final shot at 50 /135…more later…

Peace…

weight : 180 I am a massive man… he laughs as he braces himself against a 10mph gust of wind!!

Nice work!

I had a similar “issue” with the Z presses. Instead of putting my legs out, straight and together, I put them out at slight angles. It took some of the side to side out of it, but seemed to lessen the pressure on my back. Just a thought.[/quote]

Strick- I do that next time…thanks…do you use a belt for support at all while doing them? I just used the bar today and could feel the difference in my shoulders…Interesting!

I remember the show title and thats about it…thanks for the encouragement…

Its hard to read everybodys log but your title always made me say it out loud…

It starts with you saying your a light weight and hate squats and then bam your trying to drop weight and are a repping maniac. Way to tackle the beast!

Nope. No belt. I think that is part of the idea…to make the core work harder. I think the different feel in the shoulder is from a) it forcing a stricter form and b) part of the stabilization is transferred to the shoulders.

Best I can tell, my Z press max is about 50# less than my MP max.

Upscale- I know what you mean about reading all the logs…lots of good lifters and people to follow and not enough to hit them all regularly! Thanks for stopping in.

Strick- Got it and thanks…putting them in my next program…whatever that is

Day 13

Incline BP 5 triples

235x3,3,3,3, 2,1 just didn’t want to risk trying the 3rd and final rep so I racked and took 20 sec and banged it out…Everything including warmup felt heavy today. Still My max when I started was 235 so banging out some reps with it 6 weeks later ain’t so bad for an ole Goatzilla

Bat wings 45s brutal
5x10 sec hold…

One arm Press just not feelin it today
60x2,3,5,x3 each arm…dropped down a bit shoulder cranky, tired…just Biofreezed the crap out of it…

Complex 5x2 x115

Squats FIFTY TWO/135 !!!

Strick- 2 minutes 38 seconds

I did 52 for a few reasons…50 accomplished the program goal, 51 accomplished the OP challenge and 52 because thats how old I will be in about 9 months and I sure as hell ain’t doing this again!!! And truthfully because doing it and counting at the same time sucks so I wanted to make sure didn’t mess up somewhere and not really hit 50… Cant stand still, when I do my legs shake…my chest is on fire and its been an hour…but its done…Monday is a shot at 185 for 50…wow why me…

Woohoo! Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment!

And in only 2 1/2 minutes? That is moving along at a pretty good clip.

Great, great, great work…you stubborn old goat!

52x135…HOLEE shit!!!

Awesome Job OP!!

52 is a mighty good number.

Adapt and Overcome…

52??? Outstanding OG.

NICE!!! Way to go Goat.

Had to come back and see how you did.

WOWZA thats pretty awesome !

HOT DAMN!!! That’s some nice squatting right there.

Great work Goat!!!

Hey OG! Long time no speak. Good to see you’re still younger than ever and going strong! Next time you have the bi’s pumped from one arm curls just post a pic out here. We’ll gawk at them for ya!

Thanks all! Its awesome that you guys/gal dropped in with props!!! I greatly appreciate it.

Dday- you are one funny dude with the vid…it was 135 not 315… !!!

Strick, Cameo by JW, Fischer, UN, ah hum hum OP, Upscale even came down to the low rent district, Cav and L2Game…thanks so much…

Im tired and quads are saying what did w do to deserve this…calf is tight but hasn’t locked up…been stretching on and off all day…I think its too tired to ball up!!

here is what I learned about today: my GPP isn’t and mental drive hasn’t been…it’s not about the weight…its 135 for crying outloud…it was about oxygen and willingness and it took 5 tries to do…So I have to re-access what I am doing for my work capacity. The main barriers were wind and courage to say FU wind…what I found very interesting is that it was a total grind to 50 to hit the goal and than it got easier. I honestly think I could have done 60 because the weight of hitting 50 was over and now it was bonus time but reason prevailed and I wanted OUT!!!

The good news? My wife and kids are in NY tonight. Daughter was invited to Columbia U by the women’s lacrosse team for Junior Day tomorrow…she is staying on campus tonight with a girl she knows and she was stoked about going… my son went along just so he could avoid a half a day of school! so its me and the dogs and Buds!!

13 down 1 to go

Peace

awesome job man!! have been checking in to see how you’d do and i’m impressed.

Hopefully no muscle soreness for you tomorrow… how has DOMS been on this program? intense, or non-existent or somewhere in the middle?

Zeno- Basically deep mild soreness since the beginning and I mean everday…this AM quads are tight and sore, hips woke me up last night, but a few knee to knee stretches and I was able to get to sleep. Just took the dogs for an hour walk and that helps get things going…thanks for stopping in

Great work OG. 135x52 is sick. Flopping on the floor like a fish afterwards?

Wow man 135/52 is a super accomplishment, great stuff!
