Dday- remember I only did 21 reps. and added 3 sets to get to a total of 50. The program goal is 50 in a set… Im working on it…than I’ll start ffin with you ( lol)!
ECO-Nope, I took a vow to hate squats!!! Leg extensions RULE!!! I will say this even though it is only 185 lbs…3 days later I am still sore and tight and tired. Did I ever tell you, I hate squats?
UN- There is an article on this site about it. But I bought the book and the book is a bit different but that is what I am following. But if you read the article on T-Nation you will certainly get the flavor and purpose behind it.

So is this crazy syuff putting any mass on you? did you weigh or measure beforehand?
I must admit this routine is beginning to intrigue me. In an “I wonder how long I can hold my hand on this electric fence?” or “I wonder if I could jump over that bonfire?” type way.
Brett, I have put on 5lbs and my gained about 1/2 inch on my quads and 3/4 on my hips…and my wife said to me yesterday ’ you’re looking good," good with that special come hither look in her eye! before this, chickens were embarrassed by my legs! Now, they still snicker at me, but not as loud! And I am not really trying to gain mass…just beating the squat demons out of me…

Left 2,3,4,1 70’s…tried 70’s but could’t do all the reps switched to 65s 2,3,4,1 just spent on pressing at this point

Squats 50 rep at 185 goal is to do it in a single set…I am re-writing the book to say in a single day not set!!
27, 14, 9…so I improved my opener by 6 reps and dropped a set to 3 to hit all 50 , so mission accomplished…just have to gut out more next time…still a long way from Kansas though!! 50/185 seems like the finish line of a marathon and I am on mile 2…oh brother.

Squats goal is 50/185 in one set.
33, 12, 5…so I guess I didn’t hit the mark!! At 20-22 I felt better than in previous attempts and thought I might touch 40 today…By the time I hit 30 the wall was falling on me, at 33 I was light headed a little dizzy so I pulled the chute! ! Its an improvement but there is only 1 more attempt at 50/185 left in the program and I am pretty far away from it… Next two session call for 135x50…so I will continue to give it go and see how we do.

You inspired me OG (sort of, because I’m not as crazy as you!). I started doing squats using Kroc’s template from his bench article (he said it would work for squats as well, in answering a question), which had me doing 5 sets of 10 @ 165 (wanted to quit after the 1st set!), then 5 x 8 @ 180 -these killed me, and the strangest thing was my hamstrings were so tired afterwards I couldn’t do any GHRs at all because of cramping. Last week I did 5 x 5 @ 195, and it was pretty easy relative to the higher reps, plus GHRs were doable.
For bench, the only rep I’ve missed so far was the last rep of the last set of 10 @ 135. The 5 sets of 3 @ 175 was downright easy.
I am now a big believer in training all rep ranges for overall balance; and that different rep ranges target different muscle fibers.
This is really awesome… 33 reps wow.
Punny- I’ll be interested to see how it works for you, but if I add that up its 90 reps!!! Now that is VOLUME

47…yes stinking 47…at 40 I was like I got this…at 45 my calf decided to spasm and knot up, at rep 47 I was in pain and racked…as soon as I racked the thing knotted up and I buckled , someone came over and asked if I was alright…that sucker killed!!! SO I foam rolled it slow and easy and did some very easy calf stretches on the stairs…and hobbled out the door…Damn it!!! Friday is the next shot…Damn it all that work up in smoke because of a cramp…
So I choose a high rep squat program and thing that is going the best is incline benches…Ergo if I want my squats to go up I need a program that focuses on tricep kick backs!! Did I ever tell you I hate squats!!!

That sucks OG! So close. Still a man sized effort. That calf is going to remind you all week about how much you hate squats. So 2 more weeks? Is that until the program is done? If so are you going to run another cycle or switch to another program?

So pissed but it is what it is so we try again friday…Just 2 more sessions in the program so I should be done Monday. Definitely doing something else. Even Dan recommends getting away from the high reps squats to let your hips relax and heal…still have to figure what I am going to do though…Honestly, I doubt I will ever do this program again, I think its good I have had gains but it might be a bit much for me…maybe high rep squats once a week would be more in line with my ability to recover…Today was still sore and tight from Sat…so I think more time between the squat portions and I might fare better…Still all in all…2 thumbs up for the program…love the ladders…2,3,5 is an interesting approach…
