I hate Squats Club

I’m looking forward to seeing what day six entails.

Reading your “adventure” is just dizzying. I get fatigued just thinking about it.
Hope we here from you, after the next session. If not, we know what happened.

OK This is getting fun now. Who knows, maybe I will go over to the demented Dan John side with you OG!

Just went back and looked over your DJ provided workout. Does Dan discuss how he came up with this somewhere, ie, his theories behind it. If it’s common knowledge on here, forgive me, I’ve been missing.

Day 6 Dan John introduced Trauma Program

I had the best worst day of my lifting in a long time.

Incline BP opening set was 2,3,5, up to 10

195x 2,3,5,9 (PR+2 reps) pretty stoked about that but it took a lot out of me…didn’t sleep well for the past couple of nights and my energy level went to hell quickly.

2x 195x2,3,4 ( should have been 5 but couldn’t get it on either set)

Bat wings 5x10sec hold 35lbs

One ARm Press 60’s
Left 2x2,3,5 and 1x2,3,4 ( this is a set back compared to last session
Right 3x2,3,5

Bird dogs
8side x5 sec hold

Complex
5x5x85 really worn down

Now for the epic story : A goat dies under the bar…by Old Goat

High Rep Squat
10x95, 10x115, 41x135 ( this was supposed to be 50 but I was out of steam, couldn’t get ahead of my breath : I can do this just not today! really disappointed) waited two minutes and did a set of 10…The goal was 50 in a set, but the idea is to improve next time, still I chickened out I should have just turned blue and stayed in the lift…my whole body is still trembling a little bit…I do this tap and go to a 13 inch box…so pissed at myself for not pushing harder against the wall…damn it!!!

A PR on one lift but overall not the day I was hoping for. Friday is a another shot at the prize…

Dont be like me, be better…Peace

Harry, nice of you to drop by…yes, Dan uses it for growth in young athletes ( 51 is young isnt it?) it says that time under load brings the most growth. There is more to it than that …Time under load, protein , fish oil and rest=growth…But really I believe he uses just as much to mentally “prime” the athlete for load…and he feels that squats are the money lift for growth…he sites himself and countless people he has trained using this method for short periods…Dan says to get a way from the high rep squats after the 6 weeks because of the stress…

That is a horrible explanation but I am still a bit foggy from the attempt this AM.

JW- Getting fun for who???

holy shit! 41 rep squats. I’m impressed and really tired after reading that.

You are kicking yourself for only doing 41??? It’s painful just reading about your workout.

But if you feel that bad, next time do your age just to make up for it.
Great work!

That’s got to be getting close to the 135x10min routine. Crayz old goat.

This sounds horribly puke-o-riffic…kudos bro!

Tell us you’re getting some results for all this punishment?

DJS- thanks man, if it was only with 315…than I could claim JEDI

OP- if I don’t kick myself what’s the point to this insanity! I will try for 51 next time out!!! As you command, my liege

DDay- I take the crazy as a compliment!!! Its good to do something stupid again! I used to be very good at it…the stupid part I mean!

Matty- if you only knew, but thank god I workout on an empty stomach, but light headed and woozy when I racked the bar…its all good…

Cav- The punishment is the result I was looking for. This is about one thing for me, doing it so as long as I don’t quit its progress. The actual squats I wont know until I get to moving more of a load…but my incline BP is up 2 reps at 195 so that is a bonus…and I have actually gained 4 lbs BW, not trying to just happening ( extra protein I take in was survival instinct), and bit more of an appetite early in the day…

Thanks to everyone for checking in and commenting…much appreciated for sure!

Day 7 is Friday…I checked what it is…send flowers now, avoid the rush.

Peace

RIP OG

He’ll live, lol

Insane, OG. Now we know where the expression “crazy old goat” comes from. The most squats I ever did in a set was 25…and those were body weight! Of course, with my big ass, that has to count for something.

Great, great work…you masochist.

I never ask anyone to do something I couldn’t do myself. Since I just turned 52, I’ll think about when I can man up for a set with 135. Might have to wait until I have to do 53. I’ve really stepped in it now.

SD- Nice arrangement, thank you (lol)

2Busy: Vegas has it as even

Strick- this is one time it pays to be gangly and scrawny ok, and crazy…you should see what guys your size have to do for reps in the program…

OP-hahaha, I am saving your post so I can remind you. but one piece of advice, don’t wait that extra rep is nasty!!!

Today is a rest day so I was able to get an extra hour and 15 minutes sleep!! took the dogs for a short 20 min walk really more for my hips and quads than for them…don’t feel too bad, tight and achy but my tri’s are as sore as my legs…

Refresh day

tmill, mob, foam, stretch 25 min total

incline bp, db curls, goblets, hammie curls, bent rows, facepulls, straight arm pulldowns, mp, hack squat, lat pull downs, seated row, pec deck, calf raise, back ext…did one continuos 15 min barrage, no weight on the bar, 30lb dbs,

6 min bike

home, hanging with the dogs…Day 7 tomorrow isn’t horrible…Day 8 is the worst yet…raise your hand if you’re having fun? I don’t see any hands!!!

Off to the salt mine, Peace

It was absolutely a compliment.
